Six new food finds I’ve been loving lately

Hey, friends! How are you? It’s about time for a post on new food finds. Today, I’m going to share a few grocery-store items that I’ve been excited about lately.

I have to admit, I don’t try new things all that often, because I usually have Brady with me at the grocery store, so I just try to get my shopping done quickly. I shop at least twice a week, sometimes with an additional trip, and I usually get the majority of our food from Sprouts, with trips to Publix, Whole Foods and the occasional Trader Joe’s visit thrown in as well.

What I’m sharing below are things that I tried for the first time in the last few months and felt like recommending, in case you’re in a rut and need to try something new too. Let’s do it …

Here we go …

SOWN Organic Barista Oat Milk Sweet & Creamy creamer

If you’re a coffee drinker and you use creamer, let me introduce you to this one. I picked this up on a whim months ago, and Dave and I have become hooked. Now, I only have coffee every once in a while, but I actually put this in my tea sometimes too.

It’s dairy free, gluten free and made from oat milk (which as you know, I choose as a superior alternative milk due to its texture) too. I find this at Sprouts and Whole Foods.

Bitchin’ Sauce

I had heard about this sauce all over Instagram and finally picked it up a few months ago. Well, it is worth all the rage. It has the most pleasing taste, which is almost hard to describe, but it’s a mixture of almond, lemon and garlic. Dave is a big fan too. We’ve put it on veggies and on veggie burgers, and of course, I’ve put it on eggs too.

One container doesn’t go very far, but it’s delicious. Also, the ingredient list is very good, with nuts as the basis of the creaminess. I’ve only bought the original flavor, but will definitely try the other flavors soon. I find this at Sprouts and Whole Foods.

Natural Delights Pitted Medjool Dates

Okay, I know. Pitted dates are not a revelation, because you know I’ve been talking about my love for dates for years. However, I always bought the almond-crusted or coconut-crusted dates. Well, recently, I picked up the plain pitted version, and I couldn’t believe what I had been missing out on, so these have become one of my new food finds. They are soft, so full of the sweetest flavor, and they are huge. And they taste more fresh than the covered varieties.

Every time I eat them, I tell Dave that these guys are “nature’s candy.” I’m obsessed. (Brady likes these better than the others too, but always requests I cut them up for him.) I find these at Publix, Sprouts and Whole Foods.

Ithaca Lemon Beet Hummus

This hummus has already been featured on A Lady Goes West, because I made it a favorite a few months ago when I first tried it. Well, I’m still a fan. It just hits different than other hummus products. I love all the flavors too, and I’ve tried all but the buffalo one.

Once again, this has great ingredients and incredible flavor. Just try it and you’ll see. I put hummus on crackers (Mary’s Gone Crackers seed crackers usually), and on eggs, veggies, veggie burgers, you name it, it works. I find this at Sprouts and Whole Foods.

Tattooed Chef Frozen Veggie Bowls

This is another one that I recently featured on A Lady Goes West favorites, because I was so impressed. These frozen meals have great ingredients, and they taste really good. They actually remind me of Daily Harvest frozen meals, but are a little less expensive.

I’ve tried two different kinds that had a little kick and were such convenient lunches. However, I have added at least one egg each time I’ve eaten them, because they are a little small. Still a great thing to have in your freezer when you need something fast. I find these at Target.

Dr. Praeger’s Super Greens Veggie Burgers

So sadly, my favorite veggie burgers ever, the Qrunch Quinoa Burgers (which Dave and I ate three times a week for two years straight and NEVER tired of them, they were so good), must have been discontinued. They aren’t in stores, they have not responded to my Instagram messages (pathetic on my part, I know, but I had to reach out). Therefore, we’ve been in the market for other high-protein veggie burgers, and we’ve tried them all. There are a lot of gross ones out there.

While the Dr. Praeger’s Super Greens Veggie Burgers do have some canola oil, the rest of the ingredients are pretty good. And they have a delicious taste with a little bit of spice, as well as plenty of veggies and 10 grams of protein per patty. We’ve been eating these every other week or so for dinner, and I’m a fan. I still love Hilary’s Eat Well veggie burgers too, but these Super Greens are a new addition to my rotation worth sharing. I find these at Sprouts.

And that concludes my list of new food finds! I hope you enjoyed. And if you’ve found a fun food find that you’re loving lately, please share it with us in the comments. Have an awesome week! 🙂

  1. Ok, officially need to pick up the plain pitted dates. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the plain kind that are pitted! But maybe I just wasn’t looking. Thanks for the tip.

  2. I recently tried the lemon dill Ithaca hummus and love it! I also tried for the first time Path of Life frozen Mediterranean quinoa blend, it was good and an easy side. I love grabbing a box of the Turkey Bubba GF burgers for a quick dinner.

    1. I haven’t had those Bubba Burgers in forever, but Dave and I used to love them. We have a grill coming this weekend, so maybe we need to get back into burgers. Thanks for the reminder, Joanna! 🙂

  3. Omg yes! I loooove Bitchin Sauce – I’m a recent convert, too 🙂 The chipotle is my favorite, but the pesto is good too! I don’t love the Bombay, but that’s only because the curry they add comes across as very one-note. I’ll have to give those Praegers burgers a try! I’m always on the lookout for new veggie burgers with decent protein!

    1. Hi Anna! Thanks! I haven’t seen the Bombay flavor, but we did try Chipotle flavor last night and loved it. Thanks for saying hi, lady! 🙂
