A Baby Goes West is here!

My friends, everything has changed! And words can’t describe the fullness that my heart feels right now, because it is literally bursting with happiness.

Introducing Brady Oliver Pitt

Our son, Brady Oliver Pitt, also known as the Baby Goes West, made his arrival into the world on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 12:25 a.m..

Brady was born at John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek, weighing in at 7 pounds and 3 ounces. And he is the cutest, sweetest and most lovable, squeezable item in the universe. His skin is so soft, it feels like butter. I could eat him up!

We spent a total of four nights in the hospital with labor, delivery and recovery. Then, it was both frightening and incredibly exciting, as we realized we were responsible for this little fellow all by ourselves when bringing him home on Monday of this week. Oh my! Things on the home-front are going well so far, including when we introduced him to his big (fur) brother, Rudy, and you’ll hear more about that soon.

So you probably noticed that Brady made an appearance into the world a full two weeks early — being born on the day I would have started week 38. Even though I had hoped he would be slightly early — of course — how it all went down was completely unexpected. But the good news is that we are both healthy, safe and so happy to finally be together. And really, from what I hear, no good birth story goes exactly as planned.

I’m going to spend some time writing up his full birth story into a post very soon, but I didn’t want to go too long without checking in with you. So you’ll have to wait on the details, but they are on the way, I promise.

What to expect from A Lady Goes West

The blog will be a little less busy for the next few weeks, as I soak up as many snuggles as possible with my new little human. But I’ll be thinking about you all, and hope you’ll stay in touch with us on Instagram and Facebook in between blog posts.

And yes, even though I won’t be working out for a while, the fitness, food and fun content you like to read will get back on a regular cadence again soon.

For now, I’ll leave you with this tiny hand … which likes to hold onto my finger, and I never want it to let go.

  5. Congratulations! I always like to tell my friends with a new baby, if you feel crazy, it’s okay! Those hormones are nuts. And if you end up not loving the newborn phase, that’s okay too! I was pretty sure our child was a mistake for the first few months and then I decided he might not be a mistake, but I still wasn’t totally sold on the baby thing, even though I did love him a ton! But once he could walk, THE WORLD GOT SO MUCH BETTER! And now my 1.5 year old is seriously the best thing in this entire world! Hopefully you transition to motherhood more smoothly than that, but I think it’s important to keep it real and that it isn’t always as picture perfect as so many people make it out to be! If you could have kept a bucket of all the tears I cried in the first 3 weeks of motherhood… well, I think I would have filled about 109 buckets, haha. Good luck and he is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!

Happy Momming to you, lady!
