A get-it-done weekend and my weekly workout report
I call this past weekend the weekend of getting stuff done, as well as celebrating Dave’s birthday, of course. I don’t have a ton of pictures or all that much to report, but it was a good couple of days. Let’s do a quick recap and then get into my usual weekly workout recap.
Friday night included an oven pizza at home and finishing up season 2 of “Bloodline,” lounging in pajamas with Dave and Rudy. Saturday morning included teaching BODYPUMP, and then I moved into some free time for a good portion of the day, which was glorious. It was also Dave’s birthday, so let’s take a moment for him …
Dave had plans with some guys to golf during the day for his birthday, and I found myself with a stretch of about five hours with nothing I had to do, and that hasn’t happened in months. I used that time to clean the house, do laundry, organize a junk drawer (in which I found I had a multitude of very useful grocery coupons going unused), get a manicure (I went with purple), and overall get my life together. It felt fabulous. Truly fabulous.
Birthday dinner in Lafayette
Then I was ready to roll around 5 p.m., when my friend Jen came to pick me up so we could meet the boys and some other friends for a joint birthday dinner for Dave and Jen’s husband, Ryan, at El Charro in Lafayette.
I had never been to El Charro before, and it’s a totally casual and cheery Mexican spot full of locals. We had a big table for our party of 10 and enjoyed chips and salsa, margaritas, hearty Mexican food and lots of laughs. We also sang to the birthday boys after dinner, and they each got a little dessert with a candle (Dave let me eat his — score!). By the way, the price is totally right at El Charro. Our dinners were super cheap and the portions were huge. A great place to hang with friends!
From there, most of us went over to a little bar in Lafayette called the Roundup, and we played foosball and sat around a table and chatted. Because we had gone to dinner so early, we ended up at the bar before 8 p.m., which we all found pretty funny. The night ended around 10 p.m., when we all said goodbye. When Dave and I got home, I gave him his birthday presents, and that was that! I think he had a perfect birthday. And for a blurry bar picture with people in it, here you go …
The great closet clean out
On Sunday, I spent no less than six hours cleaning out all of my drawers, jewelry chest and closet. I made about 10 piles of things that I am going to donate and also that I am also going to sell. I’m going to try using Poshmark for selling some dresses, and I’ll let you know how it goes. (Anybody out there using it?)
The rest of the day included more chores and practicing Bootybarre Plus. As I told you all last week, I’ve gone to initial training for the program and have to submit a video to get fully certified. But in the meantime, I’ve already taking on a class of my own and have to get ready to teach it by the end of the month. Lots to do!
To round out the weekend, in the evening, Dave and I had a FaceTime date with our good friends from Orlando, then we made a meal from Green Chef, and that was it! A good one!
My weekly workout recap
Let’s take a look at all of the ways I got moving recently …
Weekly Workouts
- Monday: Rest day
- Tuesday: Taught a one-hour BODYPUMP class
- Wednesday: Did a one-hour Bootybarre class
- Thursday: Did 30 minutes of full-body weights
- Friday: Took a one-hour CP2 yoga flow class at CorePower
- Saturday: Taught a one-hour BODYPUMP class
- Sunday: Did a one-hour Bootybarre class
Overview of the week
This is the first time in months and months that I’ve fit in a sixth workout, and it felt fine. The best part about this past week in fitness is that I picked up weights quite a bit, with two BODYPUMP classes (using a barbell), one full-body solo weights session (in which I used a kettlebell and TRX), and some minor upper-body weighted work in Bootybarre. I also fit in one sweaty yoga session at my favorite morning spot, CorePower Walnut Creek. Overall, this was a balanced week of workouts. While I didn’t do any strictly cardio sessions (seriously, when do I ever do strictly cardio), I did get a short cardio benefit in both Bootybarre and BODYPUMP, so I’ll say this was a good line-up.
Have a great day, my friends. I’ll catch you back around here later this week for a giveaway!

Questions of the day
How was your weekend?
What’s something you are working toward?
I honestly LOVE those weekends when you hunker down and get stuff done! Sometimes those are even more satisfying than a weekend full of fun and indulgent activities. But it sounds like you’re able to fit in both!
Danielle @ afloat on a full sea
They are! I feel VERY fulfilled having done so much ehhhe! Hope you had a nice weekend too, Danielle! 🙂
Yum, that Mexican food looks delicious! And cleaning out closets and drawers feel so amazing, I just did it over the summer, but already feel like I need to go through everything again. Or at least re-organize. I tried sending items to ThredUp and it wasn’t really worth it to me, so I’ll be interested to see how Postmark is. Have a great week!
I’ve done ThredUp a bunch of times and you get pennies for what you send. But Poshmark is different because you sell the items individually to people — haven’t started it yet, but I will definitely let you know how it goes. Hope you had a great weekend, lady! 🙂
Happy Birthday Dave! Sounds like the perfect Birthday party. I desperately need to go through my closet too… ugh… it’s BAD!
It was too the point where I couldn’t hang anything else because it was so stuffed. It’s such a great feeling to get it done, Julie! Do it soon! hehhee! Happy Monday, lady!
Looks and sounds like such a fun weekend! Relaxing and rejuvenating – the perfect birthday!
I’m pumped to hear what you think of selling clothes with various groups. I’m about to send in my first ThredUp and have no idea what to think at this point. Eek – what will they accept? How much will I make per piece? All of the fun questions, right?! Ha!
Good luck!
XO, Jessica

Hi Jessica! ThredUp is okay, but they don’t give you very much money for each piece. Like not much at all. But it’s SOOO easy to just send in a bag, so that’s why I’ve done it a bunch. We’ll see how Poshmark goes — it’s more of an individual seller to buyer type of thing. Hope you had a great weekend!!
Happy Birthday Dave! It sounds like a wonderful day. I love Mexican restaurants, mainly for the margaritas and refried beans. 🙂
Congrats on getting all that stuff cleaned out. I bet that felt fantastic. I love decluttering.
Happy Monday and thanks for linking up.
The chips, salsa and margaritas are all I need. Of course I ate my entree too though ehehe. Happy Monday, Meghan!
Oh man, cleaning out your closet feels SO GOOD. Hopefully you have luck with Poshmark! Have a great Monday!
I hope I have luck with Poshmark, Morgan. Thanks! And yes, it’s an awesome feeling to purge things you don’t need. Hope you had a nice weekend, lady!
Whoa, that’s an amazingly productive 5 hours!
I’d probably watch TV or read 😉
Cleaning out my closet is something I need to set aside some time to do – I do enjoy getting rid of clutter
It was super therapeutic, Ange. Like I really enjoyed it hahah! Hope you had a nice weekend too, lady!
Love weekends that end with a feeling of accomplishment. Sounds like yours was just that. I love Poshmark. Great way to get a little extra money by selling gently used stuff . I end up with so many workout clothes-most end up being worn only a few times and Posh is a great place for that. Happy Belated Birthday to Dave as well. Take Care
Hi Dena! Oh cool! I look forward to trying Poshmark. Thanks for saying hi! Here’s to a great week!!
mexican food is my fave too–good birthday choice!
Yup! Everyone seems to like Mexican ehhe
