Favorites Things: Self care, fitness apparel and much more

Hello, party people! Any big plans for the next couple of days? I’ve got about eight-million things to do, and none of them are exciting or worth reporting. But I will be kicking off the weekend with a date with a girlfriend in the City, and so it’s all good for me. Now, let’s chat favorites …

This week’s finds for “Favorite Things”

It’s the end of the week, so we’re keeping it light with the latest edition of a few of my favorite recent finds …

My favorite new workout wear of the week

It’s been a while since I’ve shared what I’ve been receiving in my monthly Fabletics activewear shipments. My latest delivery was all black again (I just can’t help myself), and featured some shiny capris and a loose sleeveless top. I’ve worn both items, and they fit and move quite well.

The McKinney Tee and the Salar Capris make for one swanky workout get-up. Am I right? And even better? This outfit costs less than $70 total.

If you’re into workout wear (or even comfortable street clothes, which Fabletics also has), you may be interested in this well-priced online brand. If you sign up as a VIP member, you will automatically get an email at the beginning of each month with a few suggested outfits. If you don’t want to order that month, you simply choose to “skip the month,” and you won’t be charged. It’s pretty convenient. Check out Fabletics today … (And if you do, thanks so much for using my referral link.)

My favorite arm candy of the week

I don’t know why, but something about charm bracelets makes me smile. They are just so whimsical. (Yes, I just used the word “whimsical.”) And boy do I have a cute one for you today. My friends at ShopStyle Collective and BaubleBar let me pick out not only a bracelet, but also some charms to adorn it, and I’m absolutely loving the finished product …

BaubleBar Charm Bracelet by A Lady Goes West

I selected the Halo Charm Bracelet with the Horseshoe, Pom PomFortune Cookie, Gift Bow, Poodle (because dogs), Triad, and Heart charms for a variety of baubles. When I look back through the website, I already see there are a couple that I will most definitely need to add on, for instance this one and this one, because this Florida Girl went West. Perfection!

The closures on the charms are very easy to use, so you can mix and match your baubles with ease. In addition, the bracelet is a high-quality thick gold-plated material and comes with a protective bag and care instructions. Good stuff. I mean, talk about a great thing to buy for the next gift-giving holiday, Valentine’s Day, which is right around the corner. Just check out the BaubleBar “Build Your Own Bracelet” for some inspiration.

*Thanks to ShopStyle Collective and BaubleBar for partnering with me and providing the product in exchange for review.

My favorite self-care treat of the week

Massage on demand, people. That’s what I’m talking about. This past weekend, I had the awesome opportunity to welcome a talented massage therapist into my own home thanks to the Zeel service (I tried the service for the first time last year when living in my shoebox apartment in Nob Hill, which was good, but this time I had a whole extra room to devote to the service, which was even better). Zeel is an app, which lets you book a massage within an hour, any day of the week, nearly all day long. You can choose from a variety of massages, (deep tissue, Swedish, prenatal, couples, etc.) duration of the massage, and whether you want a male or a female licensed masseuse. They make it so easy for you throughout the entire process. While you can sign up as a member, you can also pay per massage, which starts at $99 each, with the tip included.

Zeel Massage on Demand service by A Lady Goes West blog

My friendly massage therapist showed up a few minutes before our meeting time, brought this foldable massage table, set up some light music, the scene and made my own empty guest-room seem like a spa. Well done.

I selected a deep-tissue massage and was super pleased with the one-hour service — my female therapist dug down into my sore muscles and did some work. The best thing about Zeel? After your service is complete, you don’t have to whip out your wallet, worry about calculating gratuity then driving or walking home. You’re already in your comfortables in your own place and your service has been prepaid by credit card through the app ahead of time. Now THAT is self care. Currently, Zeel is available in 10 major metro areas in the U.S. including Boston, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Denver, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Palm Springs, Miami, Palm Beach and Tampa with more coming soon. I definitely see this company taking off. Massages at home are a major treat.

*Promo code: If you want to try Zeel, use the code ALGW25 for $25 off your first service. And thanks to the Zeel service for giving me a complimentary massage.

Questions of the day

What are you up to this weekend?

When is the last time you did some self care?

, , ,

  1. I heard of that massage service right before we moved from LA, sounds so wonderful!!! I could use that right about now, ha!
In the next week sometime I’m hoping to squeeze in a manicure, it’s been awhile & I always look forward to that relaxing time by myself!

    1. Hi Gretchen! YES! Massages are actually pretty helpful when it comes to releasing built up muscle tension and soreness. You deserve one, lady! πŸ™‚ Have a great weekend, my friend!

  2. I love Fabletics! I bought quite a few Christmas presents from them using my VIP membership which saved me so much money. That massage service sounds great! I got my first deep tissue massage when I was in Mexico and it was amazing. I would love to get another one. I think they’re really important for anyone who works out because they definitely help relax your muscles. This weekend we are under a Blizzard Watch in Washington DC so I will be snowed in and catching up on the Bachelor and maybe starting a Netflix series if we get bored. Have a great weekend!

    1. Hi Patricia! YES! Deep tissue massages are really beneficial, so I’m glad you’ve experienced. And I love to hear you’re already a Fabletics fan. I’ve been loving the super casual pieces they have lately. As far as your Blizzard Watch — now THAT’s something I’ve never experienced. Stay warm and good luck! πŸ™‚

  3. I’m the complete opposite with workout wear, all my stuff is brighter than bright. I find bright things make me happier. I love Fabletics but unfortunately with the Canadian exchange right now, prices aren’t cheap for us so I think I will cancel my membership.

    1. Oh that’s too bad about Fabletics, Jen! And I have a bunch of bright pieces too, but I always choose black heheh! I agree that bright pieces are perhaps more fun though. Hope you have a great weekend!! πŸ™‚

    1. Hi Deborah! You’ve got to give Fabletics a try! And YES to massages. Hope you get some self care in soon, lady. Thanks for saying hi! πŸ™‚

  4. Oh my gosh that outfit it tooooo cute! I have a birthday coming up, and all I asked my hubby for was a mini workout clothes shopping spree. Mama needs new shoes! And sports bras, and leggings, and all that good stuff…. πŸ˜‰

  5. Massage that comes to your home!? Ok I need to do that. I think my least favorite part of getting a massage is afterwards having to put clothes back on and drive home. Great idea lady! Happy weekend πŸ™‚

  6. I love those shiny Fabletics capris, and that bracelet – ADORE! How cute! I need to check out that on-demand massage. How amazing would it be to come back from a long training run and have your massage therapist waiting at your door?!

    1. That’s exactly how I set it up, Nicole — well minus the running. I had her meet me at my house after lifting at the gym ahhah! πŸ™‚ Happy Friday, lady!

  7. Massage ON DEMAND!! OMG that is like insane! So I live in Thailand right now and we have massage parlors on every corner 1 hour costs around $3-10 USD depending on the parlor but I am moving back to the states and will not have my $5.00 massage across the street so happy to know people are coming to the house now (I know it won’t be 10$ but I am totally cool with that!) Great post xo C

    1. Hi Courtney! I didn’t know you lived in Thailand. Awesome! πŸ™‚ And I’ve heard that massages are very reasonable there. Get as many as you can before you move!! πŸ™‚ Happy weekend!

    1. Hi Ashley! I would love to get a couple massages a month, which I know I need … it’s good to hear you are going monthly. Keep it up! πŸ™‚

  8. Oh my goodness I can totally relate to that feeling of “8 million things to do…nothing really awesome about any of them” ha! But you’ll power through lady, especially with cute activewear, a shiny bracelet, and the occasional massage πŸ™‚

  9. I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE those Fabletics capris. The print is awesome. And you must be in my head because I was just thinking that I would treat myself to a massage now that I’m more settled from my move. Thanks for the link. Happy Friday!

    1. Yes, Erin, but the good thing is that Fabletics is probably less than HALF the price, especially if you sign up as a VIP member. Happy Friday!! πŸ™‚

  10. I think I’ll get a deep tissue massage in the next few weeks, but it’s been so long I know it’s gonna hurt bad… It’s all good though because she is a runner, so we get to chat about training the whole time.. πŸ™‚

  11. A few weeks (months?) ago you posted about a facial and I decided I was going to start pampering myself more. I had a spa sampler with a lady here on base and it was amazing! I did it again yesterday and it will now be a monthly occurrence for me. I get 90 minutes of pampering. Facial, back massage and leg massage. It’s the best thing ever! Happy Friday!

    1. Okay, I LOVE to hear that, Melissa. It seems like an indulgence, but if you think about all that you have to handle and do each day — you totally deserve and need a little me time. Good work! Oh, and I’m eating a purple sweet potato candy right now hah It’s totally weird and delish! πŸ™‚

  12. You had me at fitness apparel. I’ve “window shopping” online so much lately. I think I have that sleeveless top sitting in my Fabletics shopping cart. You like getting monthly orders? I never commit to those kind of things, but I really do like their stuff.

I haven’t done any “self-care” in a while. My sister bought my a massage back in September for my birthday and I still haven’t found time to use it!

  13. I’ve never done Fabletics, but I’m loving all the things you love! I’ve been meaning to go on their site and check them out. That’s seriously very cheap for both of those and I would definitely wear outside of exercising!

  14. I have never gotten a professional massage before, I really want to treat myself to one! I might go get my nails done tomorrow, that’s probably my favorite way to pamper myself πŸ™‚

  15. I do love that the Fabletics line has so many different kinds of clothing… And a massage in your home sounds like an amazing experience. πŸ™‚ I’m always so tight, that that actually sounds kind of nice.

  16. I love those capris!! I’ve been trying to switch up my workout wardrobe a little from my standard Lulu outfits. I’ve been loving Track & Field.

  17. love your outfit and love fabletics! I was thinking of purchasing that same top… did your Mckinney Tee shrink at all after washing & drying?
