About the weekend and workouts
If I could sum up my weekend in two words, they would be yoga and wine. True story. I had a little bit of each on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. All the yoga in my life lately stems from the fact that I’m halfway through a one-month Groupon purchase, which gives me unlimited classes at CorePower yoga — and so far I’ve done three classes each week.
Friday …
This rainy night included a one-hour sculpt yoga class after work at CorePower Yoga Blackhawk in Danville, which marked my first time visiting this particular studio. Even though the town of Danville is near where I live and work, I’ve never spent much time there. The Blackhawk Plaza is super fancy, and I liked the scene. The class I took that night? Sweaty and hard, although the instructor was not my favorite. I followed it up with a shower, a late dinner at home with Dave and some serious couch time.
Saturday …
After a wonderful night’s rest leaving me totally refreshed, the day included a hot yoga class in the morning, a haircut (nothing too exciting), and a fun wine date with Nichole at Residual Sugar — that’s about it.
Funny story: Nichole and I planned to take a cab home from our date because it was raining so badly, therefore, I ordered us a Lyft Line. Lyft Line, much like Uber Pool, is where you share your ride with someone else going in the same direction as you. I neglected to tell Nichole this ahead of time, so she was totally taken aback when we got in the car and there was another fellow up front having a conversation with the driver. It was hilarious to see her surprise. Good times. (If you’re in need of a little transportation entertainment, try out Lyft here.) And believe it or not, two bloggers got together on this night and didn’t take any pictures. Whoopsie!
Sunday …
In the morning, after watching DCC (can’t stop, won’t stop), I did a very brief gentle yoga session at home in my pajamas, as Rudy crawled all over me. A bit later, Dave and I went to Pleasant Hill to run some errands.
We started our mission with a delicious lunch at Yalla Mediterranean. We had eaten take-out from the restaurant with friends once before, but this was our first time dining in. I loved the menu, because it had plenty of healthy options, and we were both pleased with our meals. A very strong lunch spot, indeed.
From there, we did groceries, picked up some decor from Home Goods, and that was it. In the evening, I practiced BODYATTACK choreography to teach this week, and we had a lovely FaceTime date with our dear friends, Jess and Amanda, who live in Orlando. We finished up the weekend by making some French-bread pizzas for dinner. A good weekend, for sure!

How did this past week of workouts go?
The more you do something, the more your body starts to like it. That’s how I feel with yoga. It’s been a long road for me to finally enjoy yoga, and I’m a big fan of the setting and format of the classes offered at CorePower, where I’ve been going the past two weeks.
This past week, I did four sessions of yoga, picked up weights two times, did some cardio and took a full day of rest. Oh and a couple of days were not all-out intense in the workout department, and that’s with reason. If you don’t know why, check out “Why every workout you do doesn’t have to be so hard.” Overall, a good week of fitness for me, one that I hope to emulate this week again.

Questions of the day
What was the best part about your weekend?
What are your thoughts on yoga?
I love all Mediterranean food, your meal looks so delicious! I really like doing yoga on rest days and always feel so great after. I like sessions that keep you moving while still getting a good stretch, particularly in the hips (where I always seem to be tight). Have a great week!
Oh yes, hip openers are always needed — for those of us who sit at a computer a lot. Hope you had a nice weekend, Patricia! 🙂
Surprisingly when I hang out with a bloggers we forget about pictures all the time. Sounds like you had a lovely weekend.
Funny how that happens, right? 🙂 Hope your weekend was a good one, Jen!
I have been trying to get more into yoga for awhile now! I tried out corepower through a free week trial and I did love it but the price was way to expensive for my budget, never thought to try a groupon though!
Yes, keep your eyes out for it! I was surprised there was a Groupon, but I guess it’s because there are two newer studios near me and they still need more members. I’ve bought several Groupons for yoga studios in the past — some have been good, some have been BAD! Hope you had a nice weekend, Hilary. 🙂
So craving that salmon and Brussels sprouts plate for dinner after seeing the photo! I have the sprouts in my freezer but sadly no salmon. Glad you had a great weekend 🙂
I could eat that meal every night! 🙂 Hope your weekend was good too, Alyssa.
Oh my gosh, look at you. I need to get yoga back into my life! And hey, I have a Groupon that might expire soon, too. I literally have no excuse. Good to know Uber Pool is actually legit. We talk about using it all the time! (Big fans of Uber and Lyft, but we’ve never tried the shared services.) Have a great week, Ashley!
Dave doesn’t like to use the shared — but I do it, because it totally saves. 🙂 heheh Happy Monday, my friend!
I’ve now done yoga like 2 times since right after the marathon. I can’t wait until I can do it again. I miss going to CPY all the time! That was so much fun when I worked there, I think I was going 3-4 times a week to practice!
How did I not know you worked there? Free yoga? That must have been awesome! 🙂 Hope the new job is going well!
Sounds like a great weekend! I’ve been telling myself to do more yoga but it just hasn’t been happening. It’s getting harder to get into some of the poses as my belly continues to grow 🙂 There is a new candlight yoga that I can’t wait to try this Sunday that is more gentle stretching than flow poses. Have a great week!
Are there any pre-natal studios near you? I guess that would be your best bet right now! Hope you had a nice weekend, Giselle. 🙂
There is one but it’s at night and I’m spent by then! I do a prenatal on dvd but it’s pretty basic. I’m just modifying my normal yoga workouts at home every now and then instead of going to yoga studios. Figure something is better than nothing 🙂
Sure is! Keep it up!
Ashely you’re mediterranean food has me drooling! Looks like a very relaxing weekend. I could use one of those. The last two weekends I was getting swim certified. I need a break!
I bet you are tired! Totally cool about that new cert though, Megan!
I’ve been doing a 20 minute yoga video every morning and loving it! Perfect amount of time that I can’t say “I don’t have time” and I always feel more relaxed after 🙂
Is this part of your new plan from the doc? What kind of yoga?
It is! It’s a gentle hatha yoga routine to help wake you up and feel energized for the day. Such a game changer!
Sounds perfect for the morning!
I could definitely use some more yoga in my life. Since I’ve started getting serious about running I’ve kind of fallen off the wagon with my yoga practice. Hoping I can bring it back at least once a week because I definitely notice a difference in my flexibility and general wellbeing. Have a fabulous day!
For sure! You should try and make time for it. Every little bit helps
What a great looking weekend! We had a pretty low key weekend thanks to me catching a stomach bug but thankfully I’m on the mend! It’s so hard for me to take days off but I knew it was needed so I missed my Sunday spin class and Bodypump today in turn for two rest days to let myself heal. I JUST started getting back into hot yoga since Sully was born and I do a class called power yoga which is TOUGH..it’s I guess more like a toning class which is so challenging but I just love what yoga does for my mind..it’s just as much mental as it is physical for me and I’m NOT even close to being a good yogi..lol…I try to go once a week to help switch things up from my typical bodypump and RPM classes. Hoping to feel good enough to go this week..sweat out some toxins 😉
Yes! Yoga does way more than just help with flexibility. Good work! Feel better soon!
I love yoga! Haven’t tried hot yoga yet, but I’m not sure that would be for me. The best part of my weekend was hanging out and eating pizza with my brother.
Pizza and family? Sounds like a great time, Megan! Thanks for saying hi. Happy Monday!
Any weekend with yoga and wine as the main “ingredients” is a good weekend in my book! 🙂
Mine too! Hope yours was good as well!
Haha- I totally watch DCC as well…especially since I live in Dallas now I feel like I should 🙂
I can’t get enough. I wish I was a DCC!!
Haha totally!
A wine and yoga week sounds like perfection. Transport me there please. 🙂
Happy Monday and thanks for linking up.
One day! One day!
I suppose you can tell patience is not my strong suit. Ha. 🙂
This post made me miss living in Minneapolis! Random I know, haha… I used to walk to CorePower from our condo at least 3x per week and always hit up a local wine bar for a glass of vino after our Thursday night yoga class 😉 Your weekend sounds pretty ideal to me. Happy Monday!
I remember you saying that you were a CorePower fan! Me too! And YES for yoga then wine. 🙂 Hope you had a great weekend, Becky!
I have been meaning to try CorePower! Does your groupon let you try more than one location? That’s a great deal!
Yup! You can go to ANY of them for a whole month for $75. It’s an amazing deal. I think it’s still going! LOOK for it. 🙂
Hi again! My favorite part of my weekend was definitely walking around in a little downtown area of Rhode Island and eating on an outdoor patio right on the water! I tell ya, weather can completely change my state of mind in the blink of an eye. Thoughts on yoga would be a toss up. I usually LOVE yoga classes, but I have to have a solid instructor and calming environment to even begin turning off my constant tumultuous thoughts. The meditation part is the hardest for me, which is why I like a faster paced flow to the class, so I have less time to hang out in the poses and think about what I’m having for dinner that night!
Hi Danielle! ahhaha — well — let’s be honest, aren’t we all thinking about our next meals during yoga? I sure am! But I like the faster classes too. And how nice you’ve got the weather for outdoor eating! ENJOY!
