Favorite things: Comfortable, fragrant, tasty and more

This week has been hashtag busy. I’m looking forward to a couple of days of down-time this weekend (as I’m sure you are too). Dave and I have a double-date on the calendar, and that’s about it. Oh, and Rudy needs a bath. So there you go, we’re booked solid. Now, let’s get right to the ramblings …

This week’s finds for “Favorite Things”

Just a few unrelated items I’ve been loving lately …

My favorite new shoes of the week

Even though the temperatures are starting to warm up here in the Bay Area, that doesn’t mean I’m ready for flip-flops quite yet. I’ve been interested in getting some shiny or leather slip-ons for quite some time and finally pulled the trigger on these this past weekend …

Need to save a few seconds of your life? Get shoes that don’t need to be tied and don’t require socks. YES. Loving these Report shoes.

I used a $10-off coupon when purchasing these at DSW, and I know I’ll get my money out of them as my new go-to yoga and weekend shoe. So comfy!

My favorite new scent of the week

Of course, my sweet Mom sends Dave, me and now Rudy presents for every holiday. I finally broke into this bottle of perfume that came in my Valentine’s Day package last month, and it’s so good. (And portable.)

Daisy Dream perfume by Marc Jacobs via A Lady Goes West favesI put perfume on almost every single day, and when I do, it’s usually more than a few sprays. In fact, I like a strong scent on me and on others as they pass by. I wonder if people smell me when I walk by? I hope so.

Have you ever looked up scent profiles for wine or perfume or even candles? It’s pretty entertaining? Here’s how the brand describes Daisy Dream: “The fruity-floral fragrance has a light and airy touch, bursting with top notes of blackberry, grapefruit and pear. The heart notes are introduced with a bouquet of jasmine, lychee and blue wisteria, and a medley of white woods, musks and coconut water reveal the base notes.” Coconut water? No wonder I like it!

My favorite tasty snack of the week

When it comes to my snacks these days, convenience is key. While I’ve tried nearly every protein/granola/energy bar out there, I always come back to a few standard favorites. Enter, the Larabar …

Chocolate chip, PB and dates? That’s a whole lot of delicious in one package. And fun fact, you can get a box of eight for $8 at Target. A steal!

This brand of bars is so incredibly clean and made exclusively from whole foods — no junk. My only complaint is that I can finish one in just three bites. I should probably eat two during snack-time. You think? Good stuff!

Question of the day

What’s one thing you are looking forward to this weekend?

  1. Snack time is one of the best times of the work day (after lunch of course haha)! My mom sends me holiday boxes as well :), it makes all of us happy!

  2. Is Rudy good about getting a bath? Otto is a total diva- must have warm/hot water and most definitely will not be bathed outside, under any circumstances. He barely fits in our shower so we’ve been taking him to get groomed every couple months. He’s so cute after and totally knows it, too.

    1. Hi Anna, to tell you the truth, Dave always gives Rudy the bath. He does it in the shower and then blow dries him, because our vet told us we needed to. He doesn’t enjoy it, but is fairly well behaved. But he is so small, it’s not hard to contain him hehehe. And yes, so cute after the groomer.

  3. Speaking of shoes… I have noticed that when I wear my running shoes to Bodyattack, my arches on my feet cramp. I assume that is because running shoes really don’t provide support for the lateral movements. Do you have a particular crosstrainer that you would recommend?

  4. Those shoes are super cute! I have such a hard time finding closed toe slip-ons that look good on me because I have clown feet. But I really need something that I can throw on and walk around comfortably in.

I hope you enjoy your double date and Rudy’s bath! 🙂

    1. Haha I feel that way too. Wear what you like though– you don’t have clown feet heheh. Happy weekend to you! Let’s get together soon??

  5. Super cute shoes!! I have a similar pair that I got from Rite Aide for $4!!! Haha, totally not high quality but they do the trick 😉 I wish I could eat Lara bars, they’re SO good! The dates bother my tummy though, boo! Have a wonderful weekend friend <3
