Favorite things: A picnic, flops, food, a memory and much more

Oh hey there, my friends! A very happy end of the week going out to you. How have you been? Me? I’m hanging in there. Today, I’m coming to you just about fully well after having a rough cold the past few days. Somehow I was able to power through the week, but it wasn’t easy. But hey, let’s stay positive, because the weekend is upon us. On tap? Tonight, I’m having some girl time with a friend, tomorrow morning, I’m teaching BODYPUMP (I’m taking over Saturday mornings throughout the summer while another instructor is on leave), and the rest of the weekend is up in the air. Let’s jump right into some of the random things that have been making me happy lately in our usual “Favorite things” post …

This week’s “Favorite things”

Blogger picnic

This past Saturday, I went to the public beach in Alameda to meet up with about a dozen lady bloggers from around the Bay Area for “The Blog Exchange” picnic, hosted by Reichel and Jessica. The set-up they had prepared for us was so chic, and truly representative of both Reichel and Jessica’s style. While there, I put my toes in the sand, met some new friends, chatted with some old friends and drank some tasty green juice. The company was great, and so was the lovely gift bag we all went home with. Scenes from the event include …

New flip-flops

True story: I’m really not much of an online shopper and usually like to make my purchases in the store. But due to lack of shopping time, recently I’ve been ordering online. These new flip-flops were one of the first things I ordered, and they will definitely be my casual go-to flop for the summer. Super comfortable, go with everything and dirt cheap. Yes, please.

Delicious sustenance

At one point this week, when I wasn’t feeling well, I was laying on the couch and nothing we had in the fridge or pantry sounded appetizing. I said to Dave, I want a huge acai bowl. That’s what I need. And we made it happen with a trip to Vitality Bowls in downtown Walnut Creek. The line was super long, and Rudy and I waited in the car in our pajamas while Dave waited. And yes, this $15 bowl of goodness was just what the doctor ordered. Perhaps all of the nutrients inside helped me recover? If not, it sure tasted good, so who cares. I mean who would have thought acai would be the perfect comfort food when you’re not well?

Wonderful Memories

Would you believe that this week marked one entire year that Dave and I have had our little Rudy? For those of you who don’t know, Rudy is a maltipoo (and yes, I talk about him as though he is a human), and I am completely and utterly obsessed with this dog. Let’s take a walk down memory lane with a look at Rudy on the first day we brought him home …

Rudy the puppy

Seriously, this little dog is the best. Having him in our lives bring so much joy!

And one more favorite: the days when I get 100 percent of my sleep and steps. These days don’t happen often, but when they do, I cherish the stats (and screenshot them, of course).

  1. Dogs really do bring so much joy to your lives, I don’t know what I would do if I came home and I didn’t see mine spazzing out because she’s so excited to see me. And love that recipe list from Courtney, I’m in need of a few new recipes. Have a great weekend!

    1. Oh my gosh, the SPAZZZZZ moments when I walk in the door kill me. No matter what kind of day I have, Rudy always makes the day better. Dogs are the BEST! 🙂 Happy Friday, Patricia!

    1. Thanks, Heather! Something has been going around, and it’s good to almost be back to normal. Three cheers for online shopping. For reals. Have an awesome day!!

    1. hahaha thanks, Rachel. I tend to believe that everyone deserves to know what it’s like to have a Rudy in their lives hehehe! 🙂 Happy Friday!

  2. That beach picture looks amazing and I wish I could have done more meetups when I lived in the bay area! I’m off to the same schedule of running and eating with friends this weekend 🙂 Definitely looking at your Maui link as it brings me back to a fun family trip 🙂

    1. Hi Kaitlin! Yes, I know. There are tons of blogger events in the Bay Area. I wish I could go to more! Hey, have fun running and eating this weekend, lady! 🙂

  3. Looks like an amazing picnic, so fancy :). YAY Rudy, happy gotcha day!! Pets are the best 🙂 I’m sure he was happy to nurse you back to good health, I know my pup is always helping me feel better!

I’m going to see Me Before You tomorrow, so I’m looking forward to that.

    1. It’s SOOO worth the work, Megan. Having a dog is tough at times, because you have to be home a lot more, but they make being home the BEST! Do you have anyone nearby who could swing by and take your dog out if you have to be gone all day? If so, DO IT!

  4. That looks like the cutest picnic setup, ever!! And I WISH I wasn’t much of an online shopper!! It would save me a wholeeee lot of money haha
