Favorite things: Yoga, jewels, studios and a little more

Hi friends! Happy April! I hope you’ve been having a great week. Let’s catch up where we left off — for me, this week included work and a lot of fitness (as well as a manicure, because let’s be real, I needed it). In addition to teaching my own regular BODYATTACK class, I also team taught with another instructor to debut the new Les Mills BODYATTACK 92 release, and it was a whole lot of fun to share the stage. I loved it!

And when it comes to this weekend, I’m so excited because my older brother and his girlfriend are coming to visit us. They arrive on a plane from Atlanta this morning and are staying through Tuesday morning. I prepared a detailed itinerary to make sure they see all there is to see, and first up, we’re off to their first Warriors game tonight. Now, let’s get to the faves …

This week’s finds for “Favorite Things”

Just a few unrelated things I’ve been loving lately …

My favorite new outfit of the week

When you’re a workout gal who loves workout clothing, you’re always interested in trying new brands. I was very happy to go check out the new YOGASMOGA pop-up store in downtown Walnut Creek last week and pick out an outfit …

YOGASMOGA outfit by A Lady Goes West

Ashley wearing YOGASMOGA clothing in Walnut Creek

This white tickle me tank has a little opening in the middle, which is just adorable, and it has a built-in bra. These tippy toe leggings are long enough to cover my heels. And this u and me bra is super soft.

I learned that almost every piece of YOGASMOGA clothing is made in the U.S., and the brand has been around for three years. I loved the clean lines of all of the pieces and the fit. While the price is certainly high for most of the clothing, it’s top quality, and you always have to pay more for domestically made stuff. I enjoyed trying on a lot of things I liked, in addition to the outfit I decided on, and I look forward to breaking this in.

My favorite local studio of the week

Speaking of yoga, for the last month, I’ve been going to CorePower Yoga three times a week. I was ecstatic when I saw a Groupon for $75 unlimited classes for a month come through my email, and I jumped right on it. I’ve done a full review of the classes at CorePower, because I initially tried the studio when I lived in San Francisco more than a year ago. But this place has absolutely been a favorite as of late …

CorePower Yoga Walnut Creek as a favorite

Just a few minutes from my home, CorePower Yoga in downtown Walnut Creek is a solid spot to get your OM on.

The facilities are top notch. The classes are great. There is a certain formula for every single CorePower class, so even if the instructor is newer and not the greatest, you can still expect the right elements to give you a good yoga session. My favorite class is the CP2, or CorePower Yoga flow class level two, which is the perfect amount of challenge. I’m definitely going to miss going here, but sadly, because I have access to so many gyms for free, it’s tough for me to justify paying a big monthly sum to continue going as a regular member.

My favorite tech tool of the week

No, jump drives are not new. But did you know that these days USB or jump drives can hold a whole lot of stuff? Normally technology doesn’t excite me, but this recent addition sure did come around when I most needed it …

Pink USB drive by A Lady Goes West

When you’re looking for a place to put some data, it might as well be small, cute and pink. Right? I’m a big fan of this Lexar TwistTurn USB.

Dave put this little beauty in my Easter basket (after I had a morning freak out about storage issues on my computer), and I’ve already put it to good use. Between thousands of pictures for blogging and music and videos for group fitness — I can fill a hard drive in no time. With this, I’ve freed up some space and hope to declutter it more very soon. Hey, practical gifts are sometimes just as appreciated as luxurious ones. You know?

  1. Oh it’s so nice to hear I’m not the only one who can fill a hard drive in a matter of minutes. I feel like I’m constantly getting the pop up saying I’m almost out of storage! Must buy myself a USB!

And those yoga pants look soooo comfortable! x

    1. Hi Julie! Yes, you’d love it. Most of the classes are so fast-paced you can’t get bored holding a pose. I bet Charlotte is on their radar. Thanks for saying hi, lady! Have a fabulous weekend with your boys (and Sadie!)! 🙂

  2. Love workout clothes too! I’ve recently discovered a new kind of granola thats cacao and cashew butter and its soo good!!

This weekend I’m planning on running errands cleaning and relaxing!

  3. Yay for family visits – and Warriors games!! 😉 Also, totally hear you on the storage issues – I started paying $9.99 a month just to keep EVERYTHING in Dropbox, but it looks like a regular folder on my comp. Otherwise I can’t be trusted to know what’s on USB!! Happy Friyay girly, and see you later!! xx

  4. So fun that the siblings are coming to town! Can’t wait to see what y’all get into. 🙂

Also, I saw your Yogasmoga post on Insta, too. OBSESSED with those leggings. I’ll definitely have to check them out. 🙂

  5. I think that corepower flow class was my favorite too! I am excited to get a free week trial again! I really do love their classes just wish it wasn’t so pricey!

  6. I love Core Power!! Sadly there isn’t one in North Dakota, but I go whenever I am in Minneapolis I go to a class. I love your blog, and reading it gave my the final push to join the Les Mills tribe. (It’s something I’ve been wanting to do for a while) I will be going through Body Attack and CX initial training next month!

    1. Kirsten! Yes!!! You’ve made my day!! That’s so awesome you will be joining the instructor community!!! Keep me posted. Two trainings in one month will be challenging, but you can do it!

  7. I had a storage issue with my pictures and lesson plans. I bought a portable hard drive for about $100 a while back. However, this year our school is all about Google, and I’ve learned how to store everything in Google Docs for free. All you need is a gmail account 🙂

    1. Yes, I keep stuff in Google Docs, but it’s not as organized as I want for my many videos. That’s good you have a plan working for you, Terri!! Have a nice weekend!

  8. Your outfits are always really cute Ashley! This weekend I think I will clean today and tomorrow, and we will be at worship with the brothers and sisters on Sunday! 🙂 Have you ever taken a video of you teaching a BodyAttack (Les Mills) class? I would love to see you teaching.

    1. Haha! Well yes, I had to submit a video for certification a few years ago. But it would be fun to take one now. Maybe I’ll do that!! Enjoy your weekend and family time, Emily!

  9. I’m such a fan of CPY. I even used to work there, if you remember (or even read!) that far back! I would be DANGEROUS in that pop up store. For reals. Have a great weekend, Ashley!

    1. Hi Beverley! Oh no! That must have been scary. Hold on tight to that thing — it’s valuable hehe. Have a great day, lady! 🙂

  10. Yay for team teaching! I love it when there are two instructors teaching ATTACK. It’s double the energy (and fun). 🙂

I’m sad because I just canceled my gym membership so this will be my last month of doing ATTACK. 🙁 The class times there aren’t working for my schedule anymore and I was thinking about trying out Orange Theory for a bit. Do you know if every studio charges the same amount?

I hope you have a great time with your brother! I can’t wait to see what adventures you take him on. 🙂

    1. Hi Sarah! So sad! And all of the East Bay Orangetheorys should be the same price. Too bad you didn’t lock in founder’s rates at the Dublin one. I guess you’ll never take my ATTACK class. 🙁 Happy Friday, lady!

  11. I regularly have the SAME freakout about my computer. We ended up getting a big external storage device that I can connect to over wifi at home and it’s been so helpful (except when I forget where I’ve “stored” things).

    1. Hi Doc! So glad to know it’s not just me with the storage issue hehe! And yes, then you have to remember if you’ve moved things over or not. Glad you have your situation under control. Happy April! Have an awesome day! 🙂

  12. I have a 64 GB USB I got to store all of my pictures, and it’s so nice not to have it all on my computer! I even took a spare and copied them all to the second USB and my dad has it (I occasionally take it back and put on the new pictures) just incase something happens to my copy!

  13. I am a Lululemon-aholic, so I’m used to paying more for my workout clothes. And I still suffered sticker shock at YOGASMOGA. I didn’t know most of their clothing was made in the US. That helps a little, I’ll have to go back.

    1. Hi Dawn! Yes, made-in-America seems to always cost more. And I’d take a second look — especially at the pants. Hope you have a nice weekend! 🙂

  14. Super cute outfit. Loving the long leggings that go over you ankle, I’ve been wanting a pair like that. I happen to have two one year birthday parities this weekend. They don’t know each other, so I bought the same toy because I’m not an expert when it comes to babies, lol.
