Our December 2022 family photos
This is a light one! In it, I’m going to share our most recent family photos!
We took some professional family photos in December 2022, but we didn’t send out any holiday cards, so these pictures didn’t get a lot of air time. I wanted to share some of the pictures on the blog and am finally doing it — a little over a month after we got the photos back. I already printed a few (and had some framed for my mom). And I plan to hang some on our walls in the coming weeks as well. I think these pictures are special.
So, what is special about these photos? A couple of things! We took them in our very own neighborhood, and we had a special addition in some photos — my mom! My mom has been living in Charlotte just 10 minutes from us for four months, and it’s been a blessing for all of us. We love having her, and we loved having her in some of our pictures too.
For this session, we used Erin Jackson of Madison Lane Photography, and this is our second time working with her. Her prices are incredibly reasonable, she’s a good time, she’s easy to work with and she’s just a nice person. Erin also took our family holiday photos for 2021, which you can see here.
Let’s look at some of my favorite photos from this most recent session, taken in Ballantyne in December 2022 on a cloudy Friday afternoon …
Our December 2022 family photos
In these photos, Brady is five-years-and-three-months old, I’m 38, Dave is 41, and Rudy is seven. As you can see, we took the casual route for our photos and pulled stuff out of our closet that we already had. Surprisingly, this is the first time I’ve worn animal print in a family photo. I can’t say it will be the last. 🙂
And those are some of my favorites!
Dave and I never did a lot of professional photos before Brady, so all our pictures together are casual iPhone shots — outside of a few photos from our wedding. But I can now say without a doubt that seeing Brady’s growth and progression over the years in our professional family photos is reason enough to do at least one annual session moving forward. We’ll hold on to these tightly!
If you’ve been wavering on getting some photos done, due to the cost and effort, I always recommend scheduling a “mini session” — which is what we did. It only took about 20 minutes to get all these photos, so Brady didn’t lose interest.
If you need to find a local photographer in your area, you can look for a suggestion in your local Facebook groups, or search for the #familyphotography hashtag in locations near you on Instagram too.
Thanks for stopping by the blog today, friend. Go off and have a good one! 🙂 xoxo

Questions of the day for YOU
When was the last time you did professional photos?
Did you send out holiday cards this past holiday season?
They are all great but I especially love the one with your mom and Brady!
And how Brady has really learned to smile on cue!!!
Hi Sabrina! Brady doesn’t always smile for us for photos, but our photographer was saying just the right things to make him do the perfect smile — it was cute! She had him say all sorts of funny words! 🙂
Such gorgeous photos! You’re absolutely right about them being worth the effort and cost!
Absolutely, Nicole! I love to look back at our photos from the years. Have a great week, my friend! 🙂 xoxo
