Party, shower and weekly workouts
Oh hey there, my friends. I hope you had a nice weekend. Mine was full — but not — if that makes any sense.
I am very happy to say that on Friday evening, I came home after work, put on my comfortables and planted on the couch. Dave and I ate our favorite Home Run Inn oven pizza and watched the movie The Intern. And it was very enjoyable. I highly recommend it! So sweet!
On Saturday morning, after practicing BODYPUMP at home using all of my toys shown below, Dave and I went over to our friends’ house for a two-year-old girl’s birthday party.
While the rain moved the party indoors, it was still a nice time to catch up with the group. And the hosts had done great work with the theme and decorating.
On Saturday night, Dave and I went out to dinner at a super casual Chinese place called Dragon Pond in downtown Walnut Creek. We each had a drink and an entree, and we shared an appetizer for less than $50, which never happens in the pricey Bay Area, so we were super pumped. Not to mention, the food was pretty darn good — and there was a lot of it. We went from the restaurant over to a friends’ house to hang out for a few hours.
We stayed out pretty late, but it was worth it! On Sunday morning, I joined some girlfriends for a baby shower at a country club in an area called Clayton, which I had never been to before. We had good food, an absolutely amazing home-made and fancy purple cake and some laughs as we celebrated our friend and her future baby girl. Definitely a good reason to dress up on a Sunday.
On Sunday afternoon after the shower, I took Rudy to the pet store to get a few things, and he seriously enjoyed the experience. In the evening, I had some free time while Dave was watching the Warriors game with some guys — it was rare — and I loved it. So suffice to say, I am refreshed and ready for the week, oh and something amazingly wonderful is going down this week, which I will tell you about soon!

How did this past week of workouts go?
Hallelujah, I picked up weights more than two times this week, and boy, that’s what I needed. My workouts have been cardio and yoga heavy the past few weeks, but my one-month membership to CorePower Yoga ended, so I used that time to go to a barre class and do some solo resistance sessions. I also practiced BODYPUMP at home because I’m starting to teach the class again this week after more than two months off! Wish me luck!
That’ll do it. Have a fabulous start to the week, my friends! I’ll see you back here with a fitness post coming up in a couple of days.

Questions of the day
What was the best part about your weekend?
What’s your workout plan for the week?
Sounds like the prefect weekend. Love when you it’s busy but you still have some down time. I always try to get more yoga and stretching into my workouts, but haven’t been too successful lately, so maybe this week!
It’s always the struggle to get that extra stretching, I know. Good luck with adding some this week, Patricia. 🙂
Very similar to my weekend–a few things to do, but ultimately, you are able to make it your own! Have a great week, Ashley!
Hope you enjoyed your birthday weekend, Susie!! 🙂
Looks like a lovely shower!! 🙂 We watched the Intern, too! So cute!
YAY! Such a cute movie — and I rarely watch movies — so I’m glad it was good. Hope you had a nice weekend! 🙂
Sounds like a relaxing, but fun weekend! After a week of low key workouts, or nothing at all (going full time blogging and free-lance writing tomorrow, so I have to finish up some things at my old role – let me know if you have any tips, too!), I need a week of good workouts to feel like I’m on the right path. Ray and I finished up a pretty good run yesterday, which is a great way to kick off a Sunday, so cheers to keeping on that trend.
Can’t wait to check out your big announcement this week. 🙂

Hi Jessica! Oh wow, big changes for you! Good luck with the transition. Stay organized and make sure you get out of the house regularly. That’s my advice hehehe:)
What a fun looking weekend, though I actually don’t love baby showers or wedding showers (just not into games etc) I always adore the food and treats lol. I actually was away this weekend at my best friends wedding shower and it was so fun, no games just lots of chit chat and good food..think small town church ladies , mini sandwiches and tarts! lol Other then that Saturday night we watched the last of the Hunger games movies…not my fav but still good and then Sunday was spin time and chores! Of course we got MORE SNOOOWWWW so I’m just praying this week will warm up so that we no longer are wearing hats and mitts.!!! Hope you have a great Monday!
Still snowing? Oh man. You must be totally ready for the warmth! Hope it comes to you soon, Fiona! 🙂
Oh man, I totally want all of that baby shower food! It looks delicious!
It was good! Hope you had a nice weekend, Morgan! 🙂
Thanks for sharing! Loved the Intern & love Friday night movie nights in.
When you say 30 minutes of weights, how do you typically structure them? My time for working out has been cut short lately due to a full work & grad school schedule and it’s been challenging to transition to shorter weight workouts (every minute counts).
I will be sharing more about that exact question on Wednesday! Stay tuned for more, India. 🙂
My weekend was the perfect mix of socializing and relaxing. And, I made it extra long by taking today as a vacation day so that my mom & I could go to the spa for manis and pedis. I can’t wait … I’m long over due!!
I have planned out 6 days of workouts this week. A mix of cardio, weights and yoga. I’ve already completed two great workouts … and it’s only Monday!!
Hope you have a great week …
A day off to hang with your Mom? That’s awesome! Good for you, Catherine. And nice work on the workouts. 🙂
Parties are so fun! The best part of my weekend was a5k run, it made me remember how wonderful running can be! Can’t wait to start adding it to my workouts!
I saw your pic! And how nice you had a running partner too, Hilary. 🙂
Sounds like a fun weekend! My workout plan for the week is to focus on cardio – I took a few days off (and ate a lot of ice cream) during a vacation, so I need to get in a couple hard runs 🙂
Ha! That happens, Nicole. Ice cream is good hehehe. Have a great week back in the real world!
That looks like a great shower! And some great shower food, too. I’m happy to hear your weekend wasn’t too crazy. Have a great week, Ashley!
Can’t wait to hear about Brooklyn!!
I love that, as a woman, you are so good at getting the weights in every week. Your weekend looks lovely, and I hope you have another productive wonderful week.
Thank you so much, Emily!! Hope your week is great!
I had a low key weekend too. It was perfect actually and included some rare rain. I love your baby shower dress!
We had rain too, Megan! Happy Monday!
The food at that baby shower looked seriously delicious! Wow. My workout plan this week is to get outside everyday either for a hike with the pup or a short run. It’s finally spring here and I’m so ready for it!
I hope to get outside too! Enjoy that, Anna. Hope you had a nice weekend!
i was in Houston for the weekend..and had a lovely time with family. seems like you had a great weekend too 🙂
I sure did! Have a great week, Dixya!
I’m hoping to see the Intern, I’m glad you said it was good! Looks like a lovely weekend! This week I’ve got a good mix of cardio and strength training. I was sick over the weekend so I’m easing back in to some regular workouts!
You should definitely watch The Intern, Heather! 🙂 I hope you are all better soon! Have a great night.
Another fun weekend!! I haven’t tried that Chinese restaurant before but it sounds great… Danny loves Chinese and is always requesting we go more!
Lots of food, low price. Which is rare for Walnut Creek, as you know!
Pizza Friday’s in my comfies is one of the highlights of my week too.
I hope you had a great week.
Thanks, Meghan!! 🙂
