Friday Favorites: Events, surprises and a puppy

And here we are on what is hopefully the last day of the work-week for you. Welcome to Friday, my friends. I think it’s going to be a good one!

On Friday mornings, I always teach an early BODYATTACK class, which is a great and sweaty kick-off the day. After class, I have quite a bit of work to do, and as of now, I’m not sure what the evening entails. Tomorrow morning, instead of teaching my two classes at Orangetheory Fitness, I’m going to a special fitness event hosted by POPSUGAR in the City, which I’m pretty excited about. There aren’t a lot of other things on the agenda for Dave and for me this weekend outside of attending a Golden State Warriors Finals game on Sunday night. Go Warriors!

My latest “Friday Favorites”

Today, it’s all about “Friday Favorites.” These are a few unrelated items that have been making me happy lately, all wrapped up into one post. I really enjoy writing my “Friday Favorites” lists, because sometimes we just need something light-hearted to peruse. Here we go …

My ultimate “Friday Favorite”

I think it’s obvious that Rudy the maltipoo, my new puppy, is my favorite favorite ever. This time last week, I had no idea what life would be like with Rudy in it. We brought Rudy home last Saturday, and everything has truly changed. While he is just a little baby weighing only three pounds, he has quite the presence in our home. He is playful, mischievous and so incredibly fuzzy. Dave thinks his fur on top of his head looks like messy “Einstein” hair, and I agree.

Rudy the maltipoo collageRudy likes to sleep, play, nibble on things and be carried around the house.

I’ve got to be honest, I’d love to write about him every single day and post a ton of pictures. But then I remember just a week ago, I wasn’t dog-obsessed, so I better keep it under control so as not to scare you away. But seriously, who doesn’t like to see a little fuzzball like this guy? The ultimate favorite!

My favorite recent event and shiny finds

Last Thursday night, I attended the Rocksbox Gold Rush party in the SoMa neighborhood of San Francisco for Rocksbox ItGirls and fans. I almost didn’t get to go, because I wasn’t able to secure a sub for my two evening group fitness classes until mid-day. But once they were covered, I suited up in normal clothes (gasp!) and headed out. And I’m so glad I went, because in addition to scoring a gorgeous gold-plated Gorjana layered crescent necklace in my attendee gift bag, I also took a picture with a gold-painted model and caught up with some of my favorite San Francisco blogger friends, like Kelly, Lauren, Brandy and met a few new ones too!

Rocksbox Gold Rush party in San FranciscoEverything was gold at the Rocksbox Gold Rush party in San Francisco, held at the StyleSeat headquarters. And of course, I wore an item from my latest shipment in a show of support for this growing company.

Speaking of Rocksbox, if you want to give this jewelry-subscription service a try, you can get a free month by signing up using my code: aladygoeswestxoxo. And if you do, I’ll get a little credit, so thanks for that (and thanks to Rocksbox for my complimentary membership). Having new jewelry delivered to my door has been quite fun over the past few months!

My favorite nutritious surprises

This week, I got something special in the mail from a friend and blog reader, Courtney. Courtney is a successful Beachbody Coach, and she decided to send me a couple packets of Shakeology just because she’s thoughtful. I mean, how awesome is that? Especially because I love this stuff and have wanted to get more of it in my hands since the first time I tried it last year, also compliments of Courtney. Shakeology is full of so many vitamins, minerals and antioxidants and even vegan protein. What’s not to like about it?

Chocolate ShakeologySome good stuff in this photo. Shakeology and a little photo-bomber. Yes!

The mailbox has been full this week, seeing as my friends over at CLIF Bar sent me a little care package as well. Oftentimes I have to miss out on blogger and media events, because I teach my own group fitness classes in the evenings. The folks at CLIF are holding one next week that I won’t be able to attend, and because they didn’t want me to totally miss out, they popped this box of goodies in the mail instead. I’m still sad to miss the event though, so hopefully I’ll get to go to the next one.

These organic trail mix bars are very tasty and right up my alley (as are most of the products from both CLIF and their sister-company LUNA). I’m all about convenience, and when you’re hungry for a snack, a CLIF bar is quite satisfying. Dave and I are big fans.

Clif Organic Trail Mix BarSweet and salty is such a great combination, and that’s what all of the CLIF Organic Trail Mix Bars deliver in around 200 calories or less. And did I mention organic?

These bars have been a great pre-workout snack for the week. And of course, at least one of these has been riding around in my very full gym bag as well. There’s only one left in the pantry, so we’ll see who grabs it first. Dave or me? Maybe I should just go eat it now to make sure …

My favorite links of the week

Did you miss out on some of the good stuff on A Lady Goes West this week? Here’s what happened …

And this is a funny one that one of my friends posted to Facebook yesterday. Looks like this gal went to college in the very early 2000s, so she’s perhaps a couple years older than me, but this made me laugh. Check out “10 Things I’m Glad I Didn’t Exist When I Was in College.” I mean, disposable cameras? Sorority picture flash websites? Yes! Those things bring me back!

Have a great weekend

I hope you will be cheering for the Golden State Warriors in their Finals game on Sunday night, because I sure will. And I also hope you have a lovely weekend, my blog-reading friends! You guys are awesome. I mean it.

    1. Hi Chrissy! Oh fun! Enjoy your college reunion. And a baptism sounds like a nice event, I hope they have good cake or cupcakes there! 🙂 heheh! TGIF and expect more puppy pics soon!

  1. Hah! I graduated college in 2000. Now I feel really old which I am. 😉 And Rudy? So so adorable! I swear he looks like a stuffed animal. So perfectly cute and I’m not really a dog person. Happy Friday lady!

    1. Hi Megan! My Mom said he looks “fake” too, because is so darn cute. And you are not old! Everyone else is just too YOUNG hahah! I bet some of those college things rang true to you for sure. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!!!

  2. I’m so happy for you and your new puppy! SO FREAKING ADORABLE! She reminds me a little of my Stevie- she’s a maltese terrier mix. You are going to love her so much!

  3. Ahhhhhh!!!!! I made it onto my FAVORITE blog! Thanks so much for the shout-out! I’m happy your little package arrived safely.

And definitely keep those pictures of Rudy coming! He is too cute not to share, so technically you are doing all of your readers a favor.

    Happy Friday to you. Xoxo.

    1. Well, I will do anything for my readers, so if they like Rudy pictures — DONE! And LOVING my Shakeology and my hairband. You are seriously too sweet. TGIF to you Courtney! I hope you have something fun on the agenda this weekend!

  4. I’m loving the fact that today is day 1 of summer break! Chocolate shakeology is so good. Maybe I need to start adding to my menu again.

    Happy Friday Ashley!

    1. Hi Jill! Honestly, Shakeology is totally delicious. I would LOVE to have it every day, but of course, I do not. And enjoy your summer break, lady! 🙂 TGIF!

  5. I am loving the nice summer weather and just plan to get out and enjoy it. Scott and I are looking to move to another area of Austin so we might start looking at some places this weekend. Enjoy the game and that adorable puppy of yours!

    1. Totally cool that you may move, Lauren! Good luck with the hunt. If Austin is anything like SF, different neighborhoods have a COMPLETELY different feel. Go Warriors! 🙂

  6. Love all of these! Did you see that the CEO of Clif Bars was on American Ninja Warrior this year? He seems so awesome and the atmosphere of the company is great! I would love to work there!

I have lots of fun plans this weekend- a race, garage sale at my grandmas, dinner, pilates fest, and a picnic! Hopefully the weather will hold up 🙂 Have a great weekend Ashley!

    1. Hi Gretchen! You love that show! Didn’t you go to a live taping? I didn’t see he was on it, but I LOVE the CLIF company because they are soooo all about healthy living, supporting athletes and they are good to their employees too. Yes, it would be cool to work there. You have a busy weekend ahead, lady. Enjoy it!! Yay for Pilates fest heheh!

    1. Hi Heather! Yes, the Rocksbox event was fun. We have a lot of good events around here, and I love to go when I can find subs for my classes, which doesn’t always happen. Hope you have a great weekend too! 🙂

  7. Oh that Rocksbox event looks so cool! What a fun event!
This weekend is already starting off with a bang, with a pedicure last night with my best friend and birthday bbq hosted by our good friends tomorrow for our husband and I’s birthday /baby 😉 No formal baby shower for me..tee hee…it’s supposed to be super sunny this weekend too so hoping I get some good Vit D and a tan while I’m at it!

Have a great weekend and enjoy the popsugar event, I’m sure it will be a blast! 🙂

    1. Hi Fiona! A BBQ for you and your husband sounds like a nice and informal way to “shower” you with gifts, especially during the summer. I love it! Hope you have fun. 🙂

    1. Thank you, Gen! I will certainly share more pictures, seeing as it’s not bothering anyone heheh! 🙂 GO Warriors is right!! Hope you have a wonderful weekend too!

  8. Your dog is amazing. That is all.
Gotta get me some of those cliff bars, they remind me of kind bars!
I literally NEVER get mail, mainly because I still live with my mom and don’t have to pay bills. But still, ever since I was little, I always wished some place would decide to send me a nice little envelope with a fancy letter inside (even if it wanted money). Some day… :).

    1. Hi Niki! I love getting fancy letters too, but those don’t happen as often as other stuff. And living with Momma must be pretty sweet! Especially when you don’t have to pay. Thanks for the love of my little puppy. He is a sweetie! Have a wonderful weekend, lady! 🙂

  9. I received some running clothes last week that I ordered… and my Naked juice shipment! This week was some frames for the gallery wall I’m working on… now that’s my weekend project! Have a great weekend, Ashley!

PS will I see you at the Vega event tomorrow???

    1. The new Naked Juice is SOO creamy and good, I just had one. Good luck working on your gallery. And no, I won’t be at the Vega event, because I’m going to the POPSUGAR one instead! Have fun running!! 🙂

    1. Thanks, Brittany! I know my weekend will be good, because my little Rudy puppy will be in it heheh. Oh man, now I’m totally crazy dog lady. Happy weekend to you too! 🙂

  10. There can never be too many puppy pictures! I’m a dog mom so I get it 🙂 and I graduated college in ’05 and I always had a disposable camara with me!! Haha!!

  11. Rudy is the cutest. I love that he’s your favorite, he would be mine too! So happy for you guys and hope you get to enjoy some much needed relaxation this weekend!

    1. Hi Dani! I love how delicate it is, and I was introduced to Gorjana through Rocksbox and love the brand now too. Hope you have a wonderful day and weekend fellow California girl! 🙂

  12. Cute puppy pictures are never a bad thing! I know I overload my blog with Matilda pictures- it is so hard not to when you have such an adorable subject!
This week I have been loving my new Ninja! I have been using it non-stop!

    1. A new Ninja? Sweet! Enjoy that Heather! And I agree, when you have something cute in your life – why not share it with others? heheh! Have a lovely weekend, lady!

  13. Feel free to post as many puppy pictures as you want! I love seeing Rudy’s little Einstein hair. 🙂

And I’ve actually got some Shakeology coming in the mail from a fellow blogger too. She offered to send me some so I said why not? They must be passing samples out like candy, haha!

I hope you have a great weekend that includes lots of cuddles with that cute puppy!

    1. Hi Sarah! The chocolate vegan is definitely my favorite of the Shakeology! Enjoy it! And once again, congrats on your news!! Have a lovely weekend! 🙂

  14. Rudy is too cute! I’m dog obsessed, so no worries here ;). I got my first Popsugar Must Have box this week, so fun! I got a beautiful Kendra Scott cuff and a bunch of other stuff. :)) TGIF

    1. Ohh nice, look at you, Jessie! I love the Kendra Scott jewelry and have some earrings from that line. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!!

    1. Hi Sara! I know you’ve been doing some BeachBody stuff lately. Did you become a coach or are you just buying it from someone? I would love to get more Shakeology in my life … we’ll see! Have a fun weekend with the ladies! 🙂

      1. Hi Ashley!

I am a Beachbody coach 🙂 I completed the 21 Day Fix this winter and loved Shakeology. I only ordered the Shakeology for a month because I didn’t know if the price was worth it. I was off of it for 2 months and missed it a ton. I am now back on monthly deliveries and could not be happier. If I ever get samples I will be sure to share some with you! Let me know if you have any other questions! I’m always happy to share my experiences with others because I know it helps them decide if it is right for them.
