Highlights from the weekend in pictures and my weekly workouts
And just like that, we’re back to the work week. I hope your weekend was great, my friends! Those couple of days sure do go by quickly. We’re going to do something different today and recap the weekend in pictures …
Friday …
I got home after 7 p.m. from work on a rainy Friday evening, so it was a night in for the Pitts. Jammies, wine, a home-cooked meal and a few too many Tagalongs. Pretty glamorous stuff right there.
Saturday …
After an at-home yoga session and packing an overnight bag, Dave and Rudy and I hit the road for a little getaway. Our first stop? For a totally delicious meal at Vitality Bowls in downtown Walnut Creek. The sweet folks at Vitality Bowls treated Dave and I to lunch, and we were very pleased. If you’re in Bay Area and head to a VB, order the “Warrior” bowl with extra peanut butter — it’s like a PB&J in a bowl.
It’s nice to a have a small dog and visit dog-friendly hotels, that’s for sure. We arrived at our destination in the early afternoon. And although we stayed right on the beach in Santa Cruz, we didn’t step foot in the sand. Some of our friends recently moved to Santa Cruz, so a few of us went down to visit for the night. The afternoon and evening included hanging out at their new house and watching their dog chase Rudy. It was hilarious.
Sunday …
In the morning, Dave and I took Rudy for a little walk, but were disappointed to find out that dogs can’t go on the beach. So we picked up some breakfast at Peet’s and enjoyed it on the patio, soaking up some sun for a couple of hours. From there, we went to a two-year old’s Mickey Mouse-themed birthday party at our friends’ house, where we hung out for much of the day, laughing and chowing down. The afternoon and evening included driving back to Walnut Creek, taking care of all the “to-dos” and getting ready for the week ahead. It was a great weekend!
My weekly fitness and workout recap
And now, here’s a look at all of my workouts from last week …

Weekly Workouts
- Monday: Taught a one-hour BODYATTACK class, foam rolling
- Tuesday: Did a 30-minute CXWORX core workout at home
- Wednesday: Took a one-hour BODYPUMP class
- Thursday: Took a 30-minute GRIT Cardio class
- Friday: Did a 25-minute full-body dumbbell workout, foam rolling
- Saturday: Did a 30-minute yoga flow class at home
- Sunday: Rest day
How did this past week of workouts go?
I’d say that last week featured a strong week of workouts for the amount of time I had available. I did two sessions of cardio, two sessions of weights, yoga and a core workout. Although I used to be adamant about getting in a full hour of sweat most days of the week, I’m happy to take those 25-30 minute workouts now, because they are certainly better than nothing.

Questions of the day
What was the highlight of your weekend?
What’s the best theme of a party you’ve ever been to?
Those bowls look so pretty and delicious!!! How is a beach not pet friendly, that’s crazy. Pups should get to enjoy the water and sand everywhere. The highlight of my weekend was visiting a new food market in the city and trying a new food, a Dosa. Have a great week!
There was a dog-friendly beach a little ways down, but still– I feel like my Rudy should be allowed everywhere hehe! Yay for a new food market! Happy Monday, Patricia!
Those bowls are feasts for the eyes! I think some GS cookies need to be crumbled on top, personally 😀
Yes!! You have some good ideas, Susie!!
Love girlscout cookies! We ate ours faster than I’d like to admit, haha!
It happens hehehe. They are easy to eat. Hope you had a nice weekend, Marielle!
Yay for tagalongs! My favorite cookies 🙂 Highlight of my weekend was getting our offer accepted on a house! Might be the highlight of my entire year!
Congrats!!! So exciting!!!
How gorgeous does Santa Cruz look!! This is another must on my list, though I don’t think I’ll have the pleasure of attending any Disney themed parties when I’m there 😉 How long was the drive down with traffic? Happy Monday lady!
You should go! Santa Cruz is fun, but I’d stay in Monterey, which is close too. Takes less than 90 minutes usually! Hope you had a good weekend, Jill!
Looks like a beautiful place to visit. I’ve never had either of those Girl Scout cookies. In Canada we only get the thin mints, chocolate and vanilla cookies.
Oh man! You should cross the border for a better stock heheh. Hope you had a nice weekend, Jen!
That bowl of goodness yum! My sister and I love the smoothie bowls topped with fruit, we are in the search of the best in Atlanta nothing looks as good as that one though!
Keep trying, Hilary!! Hehhe it’s a fun mission to do research for!
The highlight of my weekend was doing a huge house clean (highlight = super clean house!) and going for a picnic in chautauqua park over looking the flatirons. It was in the 60’s all weekend and so nice to get a break from the snow. I love santa cruz, but I agree, it’s crazy to me that dogs aren’t allowed on a lot of the beaches. You guys should head to carmel next time. They’re dog crazy down there 😉
Hi Anna! Yup! Last time we were in Carmel was pre-dog! Glad you got some nice weather this weekend! ?
I went up to Sonoma yesterday to pick up my spring allocation from the winery I’m a member of (Scribe)… such a lovely weekend all along the Bay Area!
Such a Californian now hahah! Love it!
Looks like such a fun weekend – although I can’t believe dogs aren’t allowed on the beach! Tricky that the birthday you attended was, I believe, on Disney World’s birthday. (At least according to a show I saw on the Guide when flipping to watch John Oliver.)
Tell Vitality Bowls to get on out to Denver! They sound perfect for our area. 🙂
XO, Jessica
It was Disney’s birthday? No way! Fun fact ahaha! Thanks, Jess!
I NEED to get some Girl Scout cookies. For real. Alos, you guys always get the tastiest bowls! I can’t find anywhere near me that makes them, so I just drool over yours.
Thanks! You should make your own, Morgan! ?
We’ve been hitting the Girl Scout Cookies hard here… I also noticed that the cookies we got are not called Samoas and Tagalongs any more, but Caramel deLites and Peanut Butter Patties… so weird.
(Stopping by from the link up)
Hi Heather! Thanks so much for saying hi!! Hope you had a nice weekend!
Those bowls look BANGIN. Yay for more smoothie bowl inspiration!
Yup! PB and J in a bowl is a winner! Hope you had a nice weekend, Erin!
Looks like you had some nice weather in Santa Cruz and a fun weekend! I’m surprised no dogs on the beach. That’s a bummer! Carmel is by far the best place to visit for dogs in my opinion. We’ve taken one of our dogs there before and he had a blast too!
We haven’t been to Carmel since having Rudy, so clearly we should go back. 🙂 Hope you had a nice weekend, Giselle!
Your weekend looks like it was fabulous! I really want to plan a trip to California, my boyfriend and I were just talking about how fun it would be to drive down the coast and visit all the cities.
There is SO much to see and do in California. It would take a long time to drive it, but totally worth it. Hope you get to do that one day, Sarah!
Sounds like a real fun weekend! Your pup is adorable.
Thanks, Angie! 🙂 Hope you had a nice weekend!
I’ve been drooling over that warrier bowl since I first saw it on Instagram.
Sometimes too many tagalongs on a Friday night is the perfect end to a work week.
Happy Monday and thanks for linking up.
Sure is … hope your week is great, Meaghan! 🙂
Those bowls look delightful and so does the beach views!!! I’m looking at California as we “speak” as I’m booking a trip to the San Diego in March. I love it so much down there and it’s important for my Canadian soul to get some heat and sunshine!!
I know! There are so many beaches we found when we lived in California that don’t allow dogs….so we ended up walking ours on the side walk….peeking at the water when we could.
Looks like you had a great weekend!! xxoo
Hi Kris! So glad you have a California trip planned. I love San Diego. March should be a beautiful time to visit. 🙂
I love girl scout cookies! My favorites are tagalongs too! YUM.
I think 80’s parties are definitely my favorite kind of theme party. I don’t know though… I love a good theme!
You must like to wear scrunched hair and scrunchies?? hahah 80s is a good one, Amanda! 🙂
Santa Cruz looks beautiful! And yes, being able to take Rudy to dog-friendly hotels is amazing. Roadie is a bit too big to tag along on our adventures, but I’d love to get him out to a dog beach one day. Enjoy the week, Ashley!
For sure, Heather! Rudy is very easy to transport heheh. 🙂 Happy anniversary to LIL!
I love doing overnight trips to Santa Cruz! One of Nate’s uncles lives in Boulder Creek, and I always look forward to getting out of the city for 24 hours for some time in the redwoods.
Yes, it was nice to get out of the Bay Area bubble for a night this past weekend, Dani. I’ve never been to Boulder Creek, but redwoods are a GREAT change of scenery!
