Chocolate cashew no-bake protein balls

Once you go no-bake, you never go back. Isn’t that how the saying goes? It’s just so easy to throw together some delicious and wholesome ingredients, form them into tasty bite-sized balls and snack on them whenever hunger strikes. And when we’re talking about flavors including cashew and chocolate, today’s no-bake balls are a major crowd pleaser. Plus, they’re made with one of my favorite high-quality plant-based protein powders, Sunwarrior Classic Plus Chocolate, of course.

Just a few months ago, I was able to try the Sunwarrior line of products for the first time, and I’ve fallen in love with the brand’s raw, vegan plant-based protein powder. In fact, the Classic Plus Chocolate is so good that it motivated me to create this healthy snack, serving as the “protein” ingredient. I wanted to be able to enjoy the powder multiple times a day, in addition to drinking it mixed with water after my workout.

I decided to add in some of my other favorite foods and make some simple bites, and it was a major success. Dave and I have been tearing through my latest batch, so I know I’ll be making them again soon.

The process for making these is fantastically easy, mostly because of the following reasons …

  • You don’t need a food processor.
  • You don’t need a lot of ingredients.
  • They can be prepared in about 20 minutes.
  • They taste like a dessert, but are healthy and full of good stuff.
  • You can eat them with one hand on the go.
  • They contain all of my favorite flavors, like chocolate and nuts.
  • They are perfect for pre-workout energy, post-workout recovery or just a snack any time of day.

And that’s it!

While I used Sunwarrior Classic Plus Chocolate protein powder and almond butter in my bites, you can sub in any other chocolate protein powder or nut butter variety of your choice.

Sunwarrior products are top notch

The stand-out of these bites is certainly the Sunwarrior. When it comes to protein powders, Sunwarrior Classic Plus is a major winner. It’s organic, soy free, gluten free, dairy free, vegan, has no artificial ingredients and is totally raw. One scoop of powder has 100 calories and 17 grams of protein, which is a great calorie profile per gram of protein. And by the way, the powder mixes well just with water and has a pleasantly chalky consistency, much smoother than other plant-based powders. Not only can you drink Sunwarrior Classic Plus protein in shakes and smoothies, you can also add it into yogurt, oatmeal, baked goods and of course, these delicious no-bakes.

The proprietary protein blend in Sunwarrior is made up of organic pea, organic brown rice, organic quinoa, organic chia seed and organic amaranth, all of which is hidden underneath the delicious flavors. The Classic Plus comes in Chocolate and Vanilla, both of which I’ve tried and loved and Natural, which I haven’t tried yet. Good stuff!

  14. I’ve heard so many awesome reviews of Sunwarrior, but still haven’t tried it. Your recipe for the protein balls sounds fantastic, but I only have chocolate whey isolate on hand right now and it gets super sticky when it touches liquid.

    1. Hi Jordan! Sunwarrior is totally good! And maybe you could try this without the honey and extra nut butter if you use your existing powder? I don’t know, I feel like the honey is essential hehe. Good luck!

  15. My healthy go to lately is the Health Warrior 100 calorie Chia Bars in coffee flavor! When it comes to protein powder I am vanilla all day long. But since you have chocolate I bet you could add some to your nighttime glass of Silk and heat it up for some protein packed hot chocolate! 🙂

    1. HA! You are ALWAYS so ON it with your suggestions for my life, Audie. Can I please fly you out to be with me all the time and tell me what to do? haahha! I TOTALLY want to put this in my milk. I need to do that …

    1. um just realized you asked some questions at the bottom (insert covering face emoji)… i always have both around–one chocolate and one vanilla–so i can alternate! i get tired of just the one flavor!

  16. One of my food goals for 2016 is to increase my protein intake so I would love to try the vanilla.

  23. I like to make my own trail mix with nuts, dried fruit and some pumpkin seeds. Sometimes (ok most of the time) I throw in a high percentage dark chocolate bar chopped. Thanks for the giveaway!

  24. SUNWARRIOR products are definitely topnoch! Your Chocolate cashew no-bake protein balls is worth a try. One thing, really concerns me more and more is the WATER QUALITY in OC cities. Horrible chemicals in our tap water.
I checked my city ( Aliso Viejo) and found Fluoride is added. Uggh.
If you want to check your city, Google your local water quality report . I used this site, it had all of Socal and OC cities listed : http://aqualistic.com/water-quality-in-your-city/
