Current faves: Quarantine week 37 and the best Black Friday deals
Happy Friday! Thank you so much for visiting the blog today. Let me start this out by saying that I’m grateful for YOU! Even if you’ve never commented, liked or emailed, I appreciate you clicking through to read my words in this little space. I’ve been writing A Lady Goes West for eight years, and it’s been a consistent thing in my life, even as many other things have changed. Some of you have been around for so much of it too!
Anywho, how are you, my friends? Did you celebrate Thanksgiving? We kept it small over here, and it was really nice, although we definitely missed the rest of our families. Dave’s sister, Gwena, and her boyfriend, James, came over (they live in the City), and we did a hike in the morning at our usual spot, then hung out and had our big feast (and all the drinks) in the afternoon. We ordered our meal from Whole Foods, so it was a no-stress, no-prep celebration. And I also picked up a delicious pumpkin cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory, which was my food highlight. I’d pick cheesecake over turkey and stuffing any day.
While it’s still a holiday weekend for many, I didn’t want to miss a chance to share some awesome deals with you! 🙂

Workouts
Weekly workouts
Switching gears, here’s a look at my workouts from last week …
- Monday: 30-minute BODYPUMP, 10 a.m., 15-minute CXWORX, 6 p.m
- Tuesday: 30-minute cycle, 6 p.m.
- Wednesday: 45-minute full-body weights, 8:45 a.m.
- Thursday: 30-minute cycle, 6 p.m
- Friday: 45-minute full-body weights, 10 a.m.
- Saturday: 30-minute barre, 11 a.m.
- Sunday: 10-minute yoga, 12 p.m. (REST DAY)
This past week of workouts was a little bit lighter than usual, because I didn’t teach my live virtual classes on Motus. They are upgrading the technology, so I had two weeks off from teaching live. In the meantime, I managed to pick up weights three times, do some cardio and then take a rest day with just some very light stretching yoga to recover. I got a question last week about rest days, which was a great question. And YES, I do take a rest day every week. The very light yoga I do on Sundays is not official exercise and counts as part of my recovery. If anything, it’s a benefit to help me recover faster, because I’m stretching and breathing. I also use my percussive gun and foam roller a lot to help too. Remember, everyone’s workout routine will look different, the key is to make sure yours is working for you.

Questions of the day
How was your Thanksgiving?
Do you have any plans for the weekend?
Are you doing any Black Friday shopping today?
Hi Ashley. Are you leopard print leggings above from carbon38? How is sizing? I’m usually xs or small depending on brand. Thanks!
Hi Colleen! Yes, my leopard print are Beach Riot on Carbon38, and I’m wearing a medium in them. They aren’t super snug, but I prefer the medium. I’m usually a small or medium. I read the reviews on each piece, and I think I was told to slightly size up for this style here. You’d probably be good with a Small: https://bit.ly/33TRhrG
Happy holiday season! We are thankful for YOU and you sharing your blog with us. You respond to every comment & email and it’s truly amazing.
How was Whole Foods Thanksgiving food? I wanted to order from there but my husband wasn’t sure how it would taste. We may try it for Christmas! Love your leopard leggings in the hiking picture. And that’s so fun Dave’s sister is close. I thought she lived in Santa Cruz. Always nice to have family close by.
Hi India! This is our second time getting the Whole Foods meal, and it’s great. It tastes like normal home-cooked food, so we were pleased with it, especially as it was so easy. And you have a great memory, Dave’s younger sister, Gwena, did live in Santa Cruz for a couple years, but now she lives in San Francisco. I truly appreciate you leaving a comment and saying hi, lady! I’m here for you! 🙂
