Must-have Beautycounter products and how to get started with Beautycounter
This one is about must-have Beautycounter products and how to get started with Beautycounter.
Hey friends! How was your weekend? This post is something that I’ve written out via email in some way to many people over the last couple of years. So I figured it would be great to live as a standalone post on the blog.
Shop with me
First of all: All of the links below are associated with me, so if you click on them, and choose “Ashley Pitt” as your consultant, you’ll be supporting my business. And if you shop with me, I’ll get a notification, so I can follow up with you, make sure you know how to use your products and assist you as needed. Thank you for that.
Next up, everything from Beautycounter is super safe, ethically made, created without harmful toxins, environmentally friendly and is also returnable within 60 days, if you aren’t happy with it. That rarely happens though. I have been using Beautycounter for two-and-a-half years, and my skin has never looked better. Here we go …
Must-have Beautycounter products and how to get started with Beautycounter
Let’s start with my choice for must-have Beautycounter products. This is not an easy list to make, because I like so many of the products, and everything I use on my skin is from Beautycounter at this point. And while I wrote a list about my favorites when I first started with Beautycounter, there have been some new product launches over the last couple of years, so the list needs some updating.
Must-have Beautycounter products
All Bright Vitamin C Serum
For all skin-types: Evens skin tone and brightens
This All Bright C Serum is one of Beautycounter’s newer products, and it’s quickly become a favorite of mine. You use this serum during the day, and it protects your skin from environmental stressors, as well as goes deep to improve discolorations and dark spots. The best part is that it smells amazing, and it gives an instant glow when you apply it. You follow it up with a moisturizer and can use it every single day. Find the Counter+ All Bright C Serum here.
#1 Brightening Facial Oil
For most skin-types: Brightens and moisturizes
If you’re not using a facial oil, you should totally start. I happen to love facial oils, and the Counter+ #1 Brightening Facial Oil is my favorite. It has a delicious smell, it’s super moisturizing, and it gives your skin a great glow, the second you put it on. The All Bright C Serum works deep to improve skin tone, but it doesn’t moisturize. The #1 Brightening Oil has way more moisture, so I use them both, because although both are focused on brightening, they do it in different ways. I like to put a drop of oil mixed in with my moisturizer, I use the oil on flyaways on my hair, on my cuticles, to remove eye makeup and to treat my face. There are so many ways to use a facial oil. It’s a great item to bring when traveling because of that reason. Find the #1 Brightening Facial Oil here.
Overnight Resurfacing Peel
For all skin-types: Renews skin
This Overnight Resurfacing “Peel” is not really a peel, because you don’t peel it off. But boy does it work wonders. You put this treatment on every other night, after cleansing your face, and it gives quite the tingle. That tingle is exfoliating your skin, perfecting imperfections, smoothing the surface and giving you a youthful dewy glow. This is a Beautycounter staple, and I always recommend it. Find the Overnight Resurfacing Peel here.
Skin Twin Featherweight Foundation
For all skin-types: Breathable and buildable coverage
I’ve had so many Beautycounter clients tell me that this is the best foundation they have ever used, and that makes me happy. I love it too. It goes on so smoothly, it has beneficial skincare ingredients (hyaluronic acid, so you’re improving your skin while you’re wearing it), and it can be layered for medium-to-full coverage. Also, Skin Twin comes in 18 shades, so you’ll definitely be able to find a match. I wear this when I’m teaching a virtual fitness class or going out, and it gives me flawless skin. Find Skin Twin Featherweight Foundation here. (And reach out to me if you need help finding your shade, or check my instructions below in the “how to get started” section.)
Countertime Tetrapeptide Supreme Cream
For most skin-types: Moisturizes and firms skin
This is the best night-time moisturizer I’ve ever used. It’s so thick and luscious, and a little goes a long way. I use this every single night, on top of serum or the peel. It is designed to hydrate, firm skin and improve elasticity, and it does all of those things, while also being nontoxic and super clean. Luxurious is the best way to describe it. Find the Countertime Tetrapeptide Supreme Cream here.
Clean Deo
For all skin-types: Deodorizes underarms
The Clean Deo is five years in the making, and it was worth the wait. Almost every single person who switches to this clean deodorant is a believer. I love all the scents, and I only need two swipes of this a day in the morning, and it lasts all day long. Also, it’s refillable, so you save the environment and your money when you order refills. Even if you don’t use the Clean Deo, you should definitely choose a safer deodorant over an antiperspirant with duct-clogging and harmful aluminum, by the way. Find the Clean Deo here.
Charcoal Cleansing Bar
For most skin-types: Deep cleans
Nothing gets my skin as squeaky clean as the Counter+ Charcoal Cleansing Bar, hands down. The only problem with this bar is that you have to keep it on a little soap-dish, so it’s not a pretty item to have on your bathroom counter. And it’s not a great idea for someone with super dry skin. I use this most evenings to wash off my makeup and cleanse my skin, before I do my skincare routine or treatments. It totally helps clear skin. ALSO, side note: You can use the Charcoal Cleansing Bar on your armpits, as well, when you are transitioning to natural deodorant, or you can use it on your body anywhere you may get breakouts. Love a multi-use product like this. Find the Charcoal Cleansing Bar here.
And those are my official Beautycounter must-haves!
How to get started with Beautycounter
So you’ve heard about Beautycounter, but you’ve been using your same old skincare and makeup for the last 10 years, and you don’t know to switch … let me help you with that!
For makeup, start with foundation, then lips
You should start with swapping out a couple things at a time. For makeup, I would always recommend starting with foundation, because you use it all over your face and it soaks in, meaning you really should be using a safer product.
Try Skin Twin Featherweight Foundation for medium buildable coverage with skincare benefits, or try Dew Skin Moisturizer for super-light coverage and SPF 20. To find your Skin Twin shade match, you can download the Beautycounter app on your phone, click on the product page, and follow the directions under “help me find my shade” and watch it do its magic.
I also always recommend changing out your lip products to safer options as well, because you ingest a lot of what you put on your lips. Beautycounter has lipglosses, sheer lipsticks that moisturize and bold lip colors. I use a combination of all three and usually recommend starting with a neutral Beyond Gloss, like the Bare Shimmer or Rosewood shades.
For skincare, start with a day-time moisturizer, then add a treatment
For skincare, swap out your moisturizer or add a treatment to what you’re already doing. I usually recommend that people start with a day-time moisturizer and use it for morning and night. Then, add in the night moisturizer after you know you like the feel of the day-time one.
- If you have combo skin or dry skin, try the Countermatch Adaptive Moisture Lotion.
- If you have dry or aging skin, try the Countertime Antioxidant Soft Cream.
- If you have break-out prone or oily skin, try the Countercontrol Matte Effect Gel Cream.
- And if you have sensitive skin, or you’re on a super-tight budget, try the Counterstart Cocoboost Moisturizer.
Then, you can add in any of the treatments I mentioned above in my must-have list, probably starting with the peel or the vitamin C serum.
When it comes to switching to clean products or to trying out a new skincare brand, start small and slow and enjoy the process of choosing better products for your skin and for your health.
Also, there is usually a “new client” deal with Beautycounter only for first-time buyers. For the month of March, the promo code is CHANGEBEAUTY10 for 10 percent off a la carte items in your first order.
