The secret to drinking more water
Hello friends and happy Tuesday!
Did you get into any Cinco de Mayo trouble last night? I certainly didn’t. To celebrate the holiday, Dave and I ate leftover tacos and caught up on the fourth episode of the latest season of Mad Men. Ole!
However, something amazing did happen on Cinco de Mayo.
I unlocked a secret that has been plaguing much of the world for years.
No seriously, I did.
How to drink more water
The answer is easy: Put a couple of cucumber slices in your cup. Done and done.
You can do it at home, at work, on the road, whatever.
Just think about going to a restaurant, a hotel or a spa that offers infused water. For some reason, it’s all that more enjoyable, and you want to drink more of it.
Why not do it yourself?
I need a lot of water in my life, and it’s not always easy to drink enough. Between walking several miles every single day around San Francisco and teaching multiple group fitness classes, I’m constantly moving and have to consciously make myself stay hydrated. But sometimes I get bored with plain old water. (Even though the tap water in San Francisco is quite tasty.)
I wanted to add something natural to my water and figured a cucumber would be the best way to start. I had Dave pick out the perfect cucumber (he did our grocery shopping without me this week), and that cucumber has proved invaluable.
Yesterday morning, I added two cucumber slices to my water glass and refilled it more than ever throughout the day. Those same two slices were still going strong and providing just enough flavor by the time I went to bed around 10 p.m. They got a lot of mileage.
With two slices a day and seven days a week, you’d only need one large cucumber per week.
Okay, so this may not be for everyone. Especially if you don’t like the faint taste of cucumbers. But perhaps you could find a vegetable or fruit that you do like to infuse in your water?
There you have it. The secret’s been revealed.
This evening, I’m teaching BODYPUMP, followed by CXWORX group fitness classes. Because I’ve been teaching the latest Les Mills releases (my review of the latest BODYPUMP 89 is available here) for a few weeks in all of my classes, tonight I’ll change the choreography and music. That being said, I have quite a bit of prep to do before class-time rolls around, and I hit play on the stereo.
At least I know I’ll be well-hydrated.
