Win a ticket to a Les Mills event near you

March 31, 2015 By Ashley 65 Comments

My fitness-loving friends, today I’m bringing you a giveaway that is very special to me. This year, Les Mills, the international group fitness brand I talk about all the time, is holding “Super Quarterly” events around the U.S. as part of a Super Q Tour, and I’m giving away a free ticket to one lucky winner to attend an event in any of the cities on the schedule. And the best part? You don’t have to be an instructor, because these events are open to anyone. Everyone can benefit from attending a Les Mills Super Quarterly event, because the energy is high, the fun is high, and it’s an all-around good time.

Les Mills Super Quarterly Giveaway via A Lady Goes West(Photos compliments of Les Mills and Reebok.)

Before we get to the giveaway, let’s talk about what to expect from a Super Q event …

What is a Les Mills Super Quarterly event?

An all-day massive fitness event held at a big gym or convention center, in which “masterclasses” of all the latest Les Mills group fitness programs (like BODYPUMP, BODYATTACK, GRIT and more) are held, as well as educational sessions. The day usually lasts from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and includes a full line-up of new releases presented by top Les Mills trainers and presenters. As an attendee, you can pick and choose which sessions you want to attend throughout the day, although some sessions require advanced registration to ensure your spot. There is also a second day of advanced instructor modules, which requires an additional fee. Instructors can earn up to 10 educational credits (CEUs and CECs) for various group fitness certifications. For a little teaser, you can check out a promo video here.

What should you bring to a Les Mills Super Quarterly event?

Bring an open mind and get ready to have fun and learn a lot with other members of the Les Mills Tribe (that’s what we call ourselves!). You’ll want to bring a few changes of workout clothes, as well as a sweatshirt and sweatpants to put over your clothes during the educational portions, as the rooms tend to get cold. Bring a change of shoes, a towel, some wet wipes to freshen up, extra deodorant, a notebook and pen, and lots of food and water. I like to bring a cooler with protein bars, coconut water, fresh fruit, a PB&J sandwich and more. While you can usually buy little items to nibble on at the location, it’s best to come prepared — believe me, you’ll be hungry. Also, be sure to bring cash, so you can purchase cool Les Mills clothing and merchandise.

What can you expect to do at a Les Mills Super Quarterly event?

You can expect to sweat and move a lot, along with hundreds of other people. You could potentially work out all day long, if you attend back-to-back class sessions. And there will be tons of instructors and participants, ranging from beginner to superstar, so anyone can go. You will be able to take “masterclasses” from some of the finest Les Mills presenters and trainers, who are at the top of their game. And you can take pictures with them, chat with them and learn from them before and after sessions and during the education portions. You’ll also get to feel the energy of a packed masterclass, which can be an absolutely amazing experience worthy of goosebumps. As a participant, you’ll learn how to move better in class, and as an instructor you’ll work on your technique and learn new and cutting-edge coaching principles, as Les Mills shares its latest research at each event. If this sounds good to you, you can sign up by visiting the Super Q Tour website today.

When and where are the Super Q Tour events this year?

  • Philadelphia – May 16
  • San Francisco – May 16 (I’ll be at this one!!)
  • Raleigh – August 8
  • Orange County, CA – August 15
  • Seattle – November 14
  • Orlando – November 14
  • Sacramento – November 21

I attended a Les Mills Quarterly event back when I lived in Orlando a few years ago and was absolutely blown away by the energy in every single session. Let’s just say I’m not the only one who is passionate about Les Mills. I truly cannot wait for May 16 to come, because every time I attend a Les Mills training or event, my love of the brand is reignited (which is saying a lot!).

GIVEAWAY ALERT: Win a ticket to a Les Mills Super Quarterly

This giveaway is open to everybody, whether you’re an instructor or just a participant. All you have to do is travel to or live near one of cities listed above and attend the event. The regular one-day registration fee is $129 per event, which includes all of the sessions for the day. This giveaway will end on Monday 4/6 (which is also Les Mills launch day for me in the Bay Area) at midnight, so you have a little less than a week to enter. Tell your friends!

Back in the day when I was in dance we would go to big dance conventions. Five straight days of technique classes, learning choreography, and competitions. It was so much fun but totally exhausting both physically and mentally!

Hey! I will be going to my first Q in Philly this weekend! I’m so excited! Question-when you bring your food and stuff, do you leave it in the car? Do you carry your cooler to each class? Is there a place to leave things? I might use my “spi-belt” to put my phone in during classes so I have it close for pictures. Just trying to pack for the weekend! I’m going to Chicago in August too!!! Ahhhh!!!! (certified in pump,cx,flow)

    Thanks!!

Hi Holly, fellow LM instructor! So I typically put my food in a large lunch-box sized cooler and bring it with me. Where you keep your stuff is hard. You put it to the side of the room typically and just risk it being left with other people’s stuff. However, at these Qs when you have time to go to your car, then TOTALLY keep it in your car and go in and out. But I find that the breaks are the best time to meet new people, so I like to have all my stuff around me and not have to go in and out. And totally good idea to have your phone on you at all times! Chicago will be HUGE, so no idea what to expect there. Yay for your three certifications! I hope to take BODYFLOW for the first time in a long time this Saturday. Did I answer your questions? Thanks for saying hello!! 🙂

Negativity be gone. "Think about negativity from o Negativity be gone. "Think about negativity from others as junk mail. Learn to sort your mail, and don't let that junk in the house." -- I heard this thought from @glennondoyle over the weekend while soaking up the annual @beautycounter virtual conference, and boy it spoke to me, as someone who used to get really upset when others didn't treat me well. I no longer internalize any of that junk, nor allow it, and it's freeing. And it's a lesson for us all.
.
I'm all about the unfollow for people or accounts that leave you feeling icky or less than. And I think you can use the unfollow both literally and figuratively in your life. Remember, if you've been experiencing negative energy from someone or something -- sort your mail and leave that junk in the trash, don't even bring it into your house. Have a good night, friends. xoxo -Ashley
Because focusing too much on what you eat and how Because focusing too much on what you eat and how you move can lead to a restrictive routine, and once you’ve been there and done that — you don’t want to go back to that place. Friends, be kind to yourself, fuel yourself well, and always make time for life. xoxo -Ashley
Peloton or Les Mills? This is divisive debate, bec Peloton or Les Mills? This is divisive debate, because people are rightly obsessed with each platform and tend to have strong feelings either way. Here's the deal: I think the Peloton and Les Mills platforms are both AMAZING, because they are getting more people moving and giving more people access to incredible workouts, all at a reasonable monthly price. I use both apps every single week, and I think that you can definitely enjoy both. I wrote a whole post on the blog this week about Les Mills On Demand vs. the Peloton app, and I went through everything you need to know to make a choice. You can check out that post later, but here's a top-line overview:
.
Peloton vs. Les Mills On Demand:
-The monthly price is fairly even for access to both apps and both have free trials for 30 days
-There is great variety of workouts on both apps, but @onepeloton has a larger quantity of workouts and more short workouts
-Peloton has the fun-connected-digital community vibe and trackable data nailed down, but @lesmillsondemand workouts are better tested and programmed (and they are always effective, whereas sometimes Peloton workouts leave you wanting more)
-Both apps offer "programs" with workout calendars and I highly recommend following them to get better results
-There are incredible instructors on both platforms, and it depends on your personal style which instructors will resonate with you
-You can get in a great workout on either app, but you have to make sure you're doing the right mix of cardio and strength each week, rather than choosing randomly, in order to get more fit
.
I'm in the camp that you can enjoy more than one digital fitness platform, especially because the price is better than the cost of one live-studio class. Keep moving, friends! I'd love to know. Are you team Peloton, team Les Mills On Demand or other?
I teared up a little after receiving my first dose I teared up a little after receiving my first dose of the vaccine, thinking about the last year and all we’ve been through. Whether you choose to take this vaccine is up to you, but it’s a choice I wanted to make. And it’s given me a lot of relief and hope for what’s ahead. Thank you to all the health-care and front-line workers out there for all you do.
A season of firsts! Here’s to our first Easter b A season of firsts! Here’s to our first Easter back on the East Coast and in our new house. My mom drove up from Florida to spend the week with us, and this is our first holiday together in far too long. Now for the important question: What’s your favorite Easter candy, friends? For me: Not big on candy, but I’ll choose carrot cake over any other dessert Easter or not. Hope you had a great weekend, lovelies. ❤️🥕🐰
Mom and Dad’s first date night out in more than Mom and Dad’s first date night out in more than a year. And I’m pretty sure we wore these same outfits the last time we went out. But that was in San Francisco, and now we’re in Charlotte. Lots of changes in our lives over the last year, but we’ve done them all together. Cheers, friends. Pass me a martini. ❤️🍸
